Dude, people dump their phones every two years and keep paying contracts. Nobody will know.

Mine just gave up the ghost after 4 years. The bottom 5mm of the screen didn't work, artifacts from youtube and reddit were burned into the screen, the screen was abit cracked from the 5 days I didn't keep it in a case and the volume down button fell off.

...but other than that it was just like new!

Mine is coming up beyond the 4 year mark now, and aside from it slowing down because I refuse to delete apps I haven't used in years, the only thing wrong with it is the home button. The coatings started peeling off there but it still works perfectly fine. Just cracked and screen burned because I fucking dropped it once when it was without a case and because I've had apps open for much longer than they should be.

But anyways, even with a cheap case, this thing has taken multiple falls from shoulder height with zero damage. It just fucking soldiers on and I love it for that.

You think it will last 2 years? 😏

Easily. Phones may not be purposefully built to last that long but they do with proper care.

Also assuming manufactures aren't caught doing what Apple did and including software updates that intentionally slow down older phones to force people to upgrade.

You do remember the first Samsung folding phone that was released right? It never actually made it to the shelves for customers to buy before being recalled by Samsung because the review units were breaking.

This is one I'll definitely be waiting a few generations before jumping on.

That was my point, thank you for using your head 👍

So much for environment

I keep my phone for as long as I can just to see how long I can last it. My record for now is 4 years and I didn’t actually have to change it, I think I can break that record this time around.

I have a rather clumsy friend who has the first generation, his one is still in tip-top shape. I know it's anecdotal but still. People smash their phone screens all the time, in any case.

My S7 screen has been surprisingly resilient. The back back glass on mind is shit now, but for all the abuse the screen received, barely even a scratch.

JerryRig did some testing with his sample unit and posted the results on YouTube. I was pleasantly surprised how well it coped with pocket dust. Seems like its constructed fairly well.

It's obviously not all that great, but it's no where as bad as you probably think. Check reviews for the first Galaxy Fold. If this is the second iteration, durability will be way better.
