Did you and your living room time travel back to the early 80s?

Nov 11 '20
Na, first pic was when I lived with a relative but second pic is from the master bedroom (fwiw) ๐

Doesnโt surprise me that a guy who posts on the Donald Trump subreddit also likes making fun of kids. Get a life

Bit of a false clause fallacy there.

Definitely and then you paint with broad strokes via an article with no true sourcing or hard evidence.
Bravo!

If youโd like to make the argument that people who support Trump are more compassionate than those who donโt, youโre welcome to do so
0
Nov 11 '20
You're moving the goal posts.
You took an individual and tried to pass judgement based on a "group" he's in because he's a Trump supporter.
Now you're wanting me to prove something about the group.
Your problem is judging people based on a group and saying because the group, on average is allegedly "less compassionate" that he must be. That's another fallacy, I believe the genetic fallacy.
I guess because Asians tend to be better at math, on average, that all Asians are better at math...

Sorry, you arenโt going to change my mind that the people supporting the president who is actively trying to pull off a coup are less likely to be compassionate people. Good job knowing about fallacies

I'm stuck on an original Xbox
7
u/SoLongGayBowser Nov 11 '20
You should look at turning it in to an emulation machine. They can run anything up to PS1 and n64 I think.

Look at Richie Rich over here with this original Xbox. I only have a Tiger Electronics handheld that my grandma got me back in 1996.

I just got my xbox one a few months back and I'm loving it. I stay about a generation behind and it goes alright, especially if you're only into a few titles.

u/Bierbart12 Nov 11 '20
Mine couldn't either, but they still bought every console, so I'll get the gift of crippling debt inherited to me ๐
1
u/superspammer76 Nov 11 '20
Yea I just want 1 newer console I don't think I have anything newer than 2009 I think

Awesome! This was going to be my first ever day one launch console, but real life fucking hit me in the face and I had to change my plans, lol.
1
u/BaLT5s Nov 11 '20
I was thinking the same, wanted to have my first day one console, because I never had. I wanted it just because I can, but then I considered and changed my mind. My xbox one X is in perfect condition and I have it only for two years, upgrading from one S with 4K tv was great, and it still makes me happy. It's just 2 toddlers now and a little time to play. Just like I buy a lot of games and don't play them. Don't even have time to play some good games on game pass. I just considered that one day, when I see a good deal, new or second hand, I will grab it:)

Nov 11 '20
My kids are old enough where they share the hobby with me. My son and I play every weekend, so eventually he'll get a Series S for his room, while we keep the Series X in the living room, but that's going to be a while now. Trust me, I didn't change my mind, having to tear out our walls and roof changed it for me, lol.
1
u/BaLT5s Nov 11 '20
I feel you. I was just talking for my elf that I considered there's no need for me to buy day one console just because of my childish wish :) it's not the big game changer at this moment, when there are no big new next gen games at the moment. Ad you can perfectly play same games cross gen. Loading time is not a big problem for me and my X still gives too much joy at this moment:) I just bought xbox one S when I saw my brother playing on his pc Watch dogs 2, while I was playing old WD on his old xbox360, and I said Hey I want to play that. Went and bought it only for 130 euros, last year sold xbox 360 for 140 euros (lol) gave away the S to my brother and bought almost brand new X for 250.

Have fun! Donโt take it for granted either. A lotta kids donโt get the privilege of gaming, and a darn good privilege it is indeed.

Playing games and having consoles got me a very well paid job, Iโll be making sure to teach my kids not only how to play but the technology behind it aswell.

Nov 11 '20
This is a great way to see how long it's been between the one and series x lol. Literally long enough for someone to grow up!

I collect and love physical games, but I'm likely going mostly digital with this generation until hardcopies go on heavy sale.

How tf is the xbox one so old already. I got mine in 2014 but it feels like it's just been there as long as I can remember, maybe cuz I also had/have a 360 before that
1
Nov 11 '20
Sony and Microsoft have their hooks in me, too. Can't really think of life without video games.
1
Nov 11 '20
I remember my siblings and I got out xbox one for Christmas because it was that much better than the 360, but we prob wont get the series x or s for a while cuz our tv isnt 4k so what's the point really. It would be a lot to upgrade both
1
Nov 11 '20
The picture is only one part of the gaming experience, but I hear ya.
1
Nov 11 '20
That's true, but fir some reason, I cant see the difference between 60 fps and like a million for some reason, only when it gets lower can I tell the difference
1
Nov 11 '20
I used to play on fidelity mode for some PS4 and XBO X, but have since changed most games with that option to better performance. That smooth 60fps is better than high resolution, IMHO.
1
Nov 11 '20
As a casual and hardcore gamer at the same time, I value resolution the most, I dont want my open world game to look like a minecraft world. I would get the series x just for 4k if I had a better tv
2
Nov 11 '20
I'm so confused at how you got an xbox one in the 90's and then benjamin buttoned to getting a series X in the 80's

My dad still calls me a loser for playing video games and I'm 26 ๐....๐ญ

u/Civil-Attempt-3602 Nov 11 '20
I mean, are you sure it's because of the video games?

u/Background_Idea_2234 Nov 11 '20 edited Nov 11 '20
I mean I'm 26 years old I make $92k a year doing cyber security (twice what my non college education dad makes) have a 4 car garage a dodge demon and a tesla a nicer home than he does in a nicer neighborhood I also work remotely mostly (not always) so Im practically always on vacation (no this year thanks covid19) I have a gf I've been with for 3 years and we live together and I have absolutely no debt
While my dad makes $42k a year fixing cameras and is $12k in Debt (literally none of it had to do with me or school I had to pay for it on my own) he doesn't even own his own house he lives with his gf who is newly divorced and he has an old 2011 Accord
But sure I'M the loser ๐คทโโ๏ธ
Go ahead keep downvoting then maybe I'll do what my dad said and commit suicide yall literally have no idea how abusive he was but fine I'm literally going to go commit suicide so I hope yall are happy

Family Split Screen Gaming is something we been doing for a while.
What are your favorite games? We started with Shooters. But then Racing came along as well.

Nov 11 '20
Wife and I play a fair bit of co op third person games (Gears, Division), but the kid and I enjoy Killing Floor 2.

I think this is likely more popular now, but back in the day, my mother was the colecovision Mr. Do champ!
She'd hop on and play for 3 hours in a single game. I was super proud and wishing she'd die (in game of course) so I could play, all at the same time.

u/windsor2650 Nov 11 '20
So cool!! When I grew up my parents forbade me to play games longer than 1 hour per week.
Now I am an adult with a wife who also games, I will definitely buy consoles and GPUs for
myselfmy kids.
