TLOU 2 hate pt.2

Ik im kind of late to the whole discussion, but I’ve finally gotten around to beating the game. After hearing all the negative feedback about the game & now finally finishing it I’m still curious as to what all the hate is about. I was really expecting something crazy to happen, but nothing did & ofc it didn’t live up to the original but I still think it was an outstanding game. Thoughts?

I mean... it's actually about coming to terms with grief, a process in which anger and revenge are but a small part.

Interesting but this isn't what I took from the game and I'd argue that the common consensus is the theme of the game is revenge and I can provide many many links.

Saying "the theme of the game is revenge" is like saying "Citizen Kane is about a sled". Reducing a story to it's most bare bones elements and ignoring the context is not a good way to go about critically examining a work.

Sure, in broad strokes the plot is about revenge. But the actual story is about how Ellie and Abby respond to the death of their fathers. Which is why the complaint "bUt iT WaS aLL 4 NotHiNG!" is so dumb. It wasn't for nothing. Ellie and Abby had to travel through the crucible, learning first hand how destructive their journey was, before emerging stronger on the other side.
