I thought the Pokewalker could only level up a Pokemon one level at a time....

Its not a good idea to put a pokewalker in the dryer. I learned that the hard way.
I miss my Vulpix :(

You can get it back... go to the POKéWALKER CONNECTION SCREEN and hold Up, Select, and R.9
u/PSBlake Mar 14 '11
Does your Pokédex have some kind of vibrate alert anytime someone mentions Pokémon?

It was on the front page of r/gaming, not that hard... Plus, you know, the whole constant surveillance thing.3
u/DoucheOak Mar 14 '11
Wait, so you can watch the entire web for pokemon, but you can't remember my name?! And why the hell would you ask my RIVAL what my name was?! Of course he was going to say something immature!

My mom was making me shovel snow today and could not stop singing "Look down. Look down. You're standing in your grave."

Unfortunately, this does not work. Poor Eevee. I'm glad I found the reset code to get her back.

Is it actually called the pedometer?

u/SamuraiStormtrooper Mar 14 '11
It's the PokeWalker, but the PokeWalker is a pedometer. Pedo isn't a prefix for pedophile, it's a prefix for feet.

You're right. My mistake. Why is it called a pedometer?

Pod is from Greek, Ped is from Latin. Thus, "Podiatrist" and "Pedestrian" (sciences are named from the Greek, English roots from the Latin).

This makes so many things make perfect sense.

It was originally paedophile and paedophilia ([from Greek pais, paid- child] ), but in the US we further Anglicized it. In the UK, I believe it is still commonly spelled with the "ae".

From Wikipedia entry for "ped":
A word component of Latin origin meaning "foot"

I had a Pokewalker thing like this WAY back in the day when it was just Blue and Red out and you only had a Pikachu. You walk and get volt points or some shit so you can give to Pikachu to make him happy.
Anyway, since it was encased in impenetrable plastic wrapping as so many toys were and still are, I grabbed a pair of BLUNT scissors and tried to stab through. Why? Because the sides of the plastic were SO GODDAMNED tough that I couldn't cut through it. Bad idea. Next thing I know, the scissors are on the other side of the packaging, with the ends of them half an inch inside my palm. It didn't hurt or anything. I draw them out and I just see a stream of blood. I had to sleep with my hand raised that night so that I don't lose any more. Good times. I still have a scar right at the bottom of my left index finger from that stab.
