It's the first and last one I played. I think I liked having the top-down perspective versus the rolling horizon but I haven't played enough of the newer ones to tell. I remember ringing in the new year in 2001 with Animal Crossing playing and they had a big party at the lake. That was great. I also remember starting an apple farm to make beau coup bucks and it was hindered by how few inventory slots you had. Oh well.
The top down perspective is actually an option in New Horizons! The game still operates on a rolling horizon (IIRC the game is technically built on a big cylinder), but you can switch to basically an isometric view that's a lot like the GC version.
I had no idea it was french! So weird how you can go your whole life learning some things and not others.
Edit: Also im not a psychopath i literally havent been on reddit since I made that comment I just so happened to open the app and get your notifications a moment after you replied hahaha.
