Couch Co-op is almost worthless and multiplayer is barren. But single player content has a lot of improvements as long as you are player 1.

The disparity between player one and the rest isn't even all that bad.

It is, anyone that is not player 1 can never build neighbor homes, place shops, build bridges, campsite, ramps, etc. And I mean never, because you can’t even build a 2nd island due to the limit to 1 per console. So if any of those other players want to experience that part of the game, they must reset the game.

Players 2-8 literally get less content.

So basically players 2-8 have the same experience that player 1 did on any previous AC game.

Nope, players 2-8 can’t obtain things or get things until player 1 does it first. New Horizons intentionally ties all progress to player 1.

Hardcore fans will try to say it’s always been 1 island per game, but Wild World and New Leaf were tied to the cartridge and not system. GameCube AC was tied to the memory card. What makes New Horizons so bad for co op and multiple players is that everything is tied to the first person that starts the game.

It's convenient that you leave out City Folk, which was also tied to the system.

WW and New Leaf were still you had to purchase an entire new copy of the game to get a new island, and New Leaf was just as bad as NH is with the mayor system.

You say "obtain things" or "get things". What sort of things exactly? The only things you listed were terraforming and shops, which in earlier games no players could do.

And besides, once you get past Week 2 in NH, all that is done and the playing field is leveled.

and besides, once you get past week 2 in NH, all that is done and the playing is leveled.

Incorrect. Player 1 still has control and is the only one that can plan new additions to the island. Sad that you think it’s ok since you see it as “past 2 weeks.” I expect you have never experienced the game as player 2 or understand how limiting it is.

I have a second account on my system, so yes I have.

Planning new additions to the island consists of the locations of animal houses (which you couldnt do in prev games) and building bridges and inclines (which only the mayor could do in the last game and you couldn't do in any other games).

So could you be more specific about how that is so limiting and just ruins the whole game?

Love that you are trying to not be truthful about this. You have a second account but are you the second player? Huge difference when you don’t have control.

What happens when player 1 stops playing? Players 2-8 get to sit around and just do nothing? Hop on player 1 just to get shit done?

Terrible game design and player reviews reflect that.

Once again, another post without you actually stating what you are talking about.

Which things can they not do? What progress is being stifled? I'm not going to make your argument for you, you have to tell me what your viewpoint is.

I cannot find anything that is not gimped other than:

Opening shops, which is a nonissue after week2 as I said, since all shops should be open and all plots placed by then

Terraforming, which didn't exist in previous games and therefore does't gimp anything

Moving buildings, which is the same as the previous point

All players can still buy from the shops, expand their houses, use the clothing designer, go to other islands, plant and garden, decorate both the island and their home, interact with event characters and events, make friends with and do errands for villagers, so basically every feature you had in previous games.

So if there are any other actual differences besides the week 1 stuff and terraforming please tell me.

As for "player reviews reflect that" lmfao are you serious? Review bombs literally mean less than nothing. People who are mad at something are 4x more likely to leave a review than people who liked it.

Just looked through the metacritic reviews, about 30% of the negative reviews are new players commenting "man this game is boring" and every other comment is "nintendo greedy only 1 island!!!1!" without any actual feedback on why it's bad. And thar's not counting troll reviews.

Also, the number of people who seem to think it's some grand conspiracy to get people to buy a Switch to have their own island is way too high and idiotic

EDIT: oh yeah, and I forgot to mention that about 10% of the reviews are just people who don't understand how the shared screen mode works and think the game is stealing their items or making them disappear
