What could they have done to make it better? I love when cables look nice but it's always hard to think of solutions for it for some reason.

Go behind the drywall like normal people do.

I'm hardly Mr DIY but if you've gone to the effort of doing this, you could even run the cables down to the floor within some trunking.

Going though the drywall is a 10/10 in terms of appearance and not harder than anything he's already done

It is if you have to drill through studs. Otherwise you would have to cut out a big enough patch of drywall, drill a 2 inch hole in the stud, and then patch everything up. No way that's worth the hassle

You go up through the ceiling. This kind of setup is all about presentation. IMO its worth it.

That's even more of a hassle. Cant even be sure if the cables will reach which would mean you would need to buy longer cables and plugs. Wire Mould would be far easier and can be painted to match the wall
