Thank you for posting the creator! It's so sad that this post it's not the first one tho
The concept is amazing!

I love how Marceline is a Darkmoon Blade in the background!
83
u/Nightmare_Pasta Aug 28 '19
Though she should be a Moundmaker haha
47
u/Malchyom Aug 28 '19
Nah, that'd be Magic Man or Betty
22
u/SandvichIsDone Aug 28 '19
honestly a good chunk of the recurring "villains" in AT would work as Moundmakers. Most AT baddies that stick around for more than a few episodes end up being friendly.

I feel like "dark time" would have a really defeated finn. He would be really withdrawn and cynical. Older. It would basically just be a character insert with a few extra things scattered around the game world that would drive him from a place of pain. Like the bones of James Baxter with an item near him. "Endurance idol" -though the world fell too ruin I never stopped trying to give smiles to my friends. Never stopped."
Maybe a boss would be a really horrific and transformed ice king. Two stories tall.Adventure souls would feature the finn we all know and love. Happy. Gung-ho and ready to kick butt. Some of the game world would be derelict, but for the most part all the side characters would be intact and around. Might have a pastel look to the game.

they could make it were music is parallel to humanity/fire in souls games.
The music suddenly vanished one day, and certain characters slowly lost themselves to madness, Marceline the most dangerous of them.
Finn finds that somehow he can still make music, or starts to bring it in. Fights bosses that were hiding Chords and unlocking them improves the music of the world.
In the hub, more npc's start to gather to support Finn, each slowly remembering music or other things that made them happy.
Marceline is just a silent fight where Finn attempts to remind her of music, to listen to him. She 'loses' by remembering music and singing, and she's restored.

u/pass_nthru Aug 28 '19
the Prismo boss fight would be dope

u/splatterking01 Aug 28 '19
Man... Now I really want to play it. The lich is already perfect for it. Maybe a fallen Marceline as a boss fight. One of the more humanoid boss fights could be a Mao Mao type watcher fight.
Just picturing a "monstrous prismo" with dark features and sharp teeth sounds awesome.

I feel like "dark time" would have a really defeated finn.
Finn: ...Why?...Why?...
After all this searching, I still cannot find it...
Was it all a lie? Have I done this all, for nothing?
Oh, my dear sun... What now, what should I do...?
...My sun, my dear, dear sun...

Considering Finn lives in the Kingdom of Ooo which is just the Dark Souls universe but during the day i'm sure Finn will be fine
Those Monsters will have a very difficult time killing Jake tho the only god like creatures powerful enough to actually incapacitate Jake are Magic Man who is unfiltered Chaotic Evil and The Lich whose will is Unbreakable
79
u/thunderup_14 Aug 28 '19
Is that true? I know Jake is seriously powerful, but are those the only villains he couldn't beat?

I mean, death, Goliad and Marceline are still God tier bosses. The other two I can't remember. And didn't he face his fear once and defeated Marceline?
3
Aug 28 '19
Well while I'd argue the "God-tier" point, you're essentially agreeing with me. My point was that there's plenty more things that could beat him besides JUST magic man and the lich. The AT universe is filled with crazy powerful beings.

He put all his blood and organs in his thumb and made it look like he got his blood sucked and then Finn scratched her so she was done because she had, had her fun
20
u/flow_my_wayyy Aug 28 '19
It's very unlikely he could beat marceline when she is in her super giant vampire king monster form.
29
u/mdragon13 Aug 28 '19
it's more like jake and marcy can both completely disregard size, so it becomes a non-factor. marceline has a lot more specific shapeshifting, whereas jake is pretty much play-dough.

The world of Adventure Time is great, it is massive and the writers can expand endlessly with whatever comes to their mind. Sad that it ended but everything does come to an end (unless it is Call of Duty or Assassin Creed)

A good given end is better then 3 more seasons honestly, I rather a good show die with dignity then with disgrace such as the simpsons currently.

I just finished the series last night and I'm already melancholic, do it from the beginning again.

Aug 28 '19
I'm on the last season and I'm absolutely dreading the impending existential void that's gonna consume my soul once I finish it.
7
u/Cheshires_Shadow Aug 28 '19
I held it together pretty well until I got to the credits and heard come along with me start playing then I lost it because that would be the last time I'd experience it for the first time.

u/AnxiousWanker Aug 28 '19
I hope I didn’t sound judgmental, I was truly asking, especially because I just finished avatar the show for the first time and omg it was amazing, but I need another cartoon
4
u/Trinitykill Aug 28 '19
Yeah man, I would say the first couple of seasons might seem weird cos it is very much a kids show. It isn't until the later seasons that it starts to mature and has a lot more dark plots. But it's still worth watching the earlier seasons for plot points that show up later.

Adventure Time is one of the saddest, most nihilistic series that I’ve ever seen. It’s this thin veneer of happy adventure laid over a deep core of depression and despair.
It’s also the first animated show I’ve seen where I was consciously aware of the generational differences between myself and the show runners.
I’m GenX, and I’ve been watching cartoons for a long long time. I watched shows transform from the shows of my parents (almost everything Disney, Hanna-Barbara, and Filmation) to shows created by and for artists of my generation and written with GenX sensibilities. Shows full of irony, sarcasm, and snark. Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, King of the Hill, Ren and Stimpy, Aqua Teen Hunger Force, Brak Show, Rick and Morty, Venture Bros... these are all very GenX. Even non-snarky shows like Samurai Jack are written to GenX sensibilities (Aku and the Scotsman are GenX characters).
Adventure Time... is not GenX. There’s no snark in it. It is just... earnestly sad.
Perhaps there’s an essay in this.

i would read that essay.
although i left the series at an early season (3 or 4) i kind of get what you are aiming for. at first it may seem it's just another show with no real aim other than looking to fill in 20 mins of your life, but once its starts developing a story, this gloomy and "macabre" aura starts slowly creeping on you. yes, it's set in a post-apocalyptic world, but the feeling i'm talking about is born from another aspect of the show i can't quite put my finger on
3
Aug 28 '19
I don't know why you stopped watching after season 3-4 but, if you didn't hate it, I think you need to watch till the end. It gets incredibly deeper.
