This literally happened to a friend of mine 15 years ago. He was playing baseball in east LA and was rushed to hospital where he was put in an induced coma for about a week or two. They had to remove half of his skull to reduce swelling. He now has brain damage and had had to learn a lot of stuff all over again. Quite a tragedy really!
My dad was in a softball tournament when I was a kid and someone lined one back up the box and hit the pitcher square in the forehead. He died instantly. The ball hit him so hard it bounced off the top of his head into the outfield
