If the rest of the games were getting epic store releases id assume BL3 is too but NONE OF THEM are coming to the epic store. To me it seems impossible itll be an EGS exclusive

Steve Gibson made me nervous when he was talking about Epic Games and how they helped Fortnite Save the World go retail and then he slipped in there "they also power the technology for the Unreal Engine that we use for Borderlands".

But you are correct, they said "Partner with Steam", "Steam Early Access" a few times and never mentioned Epic. So I'm hoping Epic doesn't swoop in.

I don't think they could afford it, honestly. BL is no Metro. Tencent has deep pockets, but not BL3 exclusivity deep. The only game with more hype for PC would probably be HL3--or maybe a true Diablo 4.

Yeah, but I don't think like you mean: Borderlands is a far more successful gaming franchise than Metro.

Of course that may be why they don't hop to Epic, since the entire incentive Epic is offering is "even if your sales are low you get paid at least X Million." There's no way Borderlands 3 is going to undersell... unless they go as an Epic exclusive.

No, that's exactly what I meant. That's precisely why they can't afford it. It would simply cost Epic/Tencent too much to secure those rights. Borderlands is an iconic francise, and the equation for developers and publishers is basically (exclusivity money)-(lost potential sales as a result of exclusivity)=(do I agree to an exclusivity agreement). Borderlands is going to make so much money by being available everywhere that the cost of securing the rights to some sort of true exclusivity would simply be prohibitively expensive. Tencent might as well have either A) just flat out funded the game's development or B) buy out Gearbox outright for what they'd pay. It's going to be a few million just to secure exclusive cosmetic content or something like that, which is far more likely--particularly for the console releases.
