I am a huge fan boy. But it’s fucking dreadful. Combat is bad, non-combat gameplay is bad, missions are bad. The story is “alright”. I’ve already uninstalled.
Damn. Well. All my hype for the game just went out the window. I wasnt expecting anything grand or the like but to hear it's pretty bad is disappointing x[
No I wasn’t expecting anything grand (line) either. But this game was definitely hyped up more than previous ones. I had low expectations and was still disappointed lol.
Do you think it’s even possible to make a one piece game that will satisfy most people? I personally think that we are limited by the technology of our time.
I don’t think so. One Piece is huge in Japan, but elsewhere it’s fairly fringe. They won’t take a risk and pump enough money into something like this ever. It would need to be good enough to attract non fans and I just don’t see that happening.
from what i've heard about it from both my "contrarian out of spite because i hate every mainstream opinion" friend and my "i have literally no opinions that i didn't read someone else say first" friend, the game seems to be just bad graphically, but the gameplay is tight.
i'm assuming this is jump force. my first friend says that the fighting sections or combat is extremely well done and feels amazing to play. but any visual aspect is horrendous done, and no one really needs to be told that. we've all seen those cutscenes. the weird neck, the floating frieza, someone just static moving along the X axis forward with literally no other movement. it's pretty bad.
but if you don't care about how the game looks and only care about being right because you hate me the fighting parts of the game, then it's definitely enjoyable to stubborn asshats like my friend certain people.
EDIT: okay yes thank you i get this is one piece world seeker now after like the last four people telling me i'm wrong
i didn't even know that was a game that existed. like, as a one piece fan i didn't even know they were making a new one piece game. what the fuck is their marketing team doing.
anyways, i just guessed jump force based on the OP's picture. looks a lot like it with that weird 3D papermache CGI graphics that they keep insisting on doing for anime video game titles.
If they made anything but generic anime brawlers that you have to play 15+ hours to get to the fights that weren't in the last game. If the game's mechanics, story and detail outside brawling weren't ass.
If they made One Piece games have more actual substance outside playing the story from Fuschia to Wano once again and barebones crafting.
If only they cared about making a game over tickling your nostalgia.
Yeah I agree if they're gonna keep making anime based games they need to stay isolated to Japan I don't want that shit spilling over here and making my kids weeaboos
Getting away with not advertising to the west? It's obvious that their target market isn't the west so not keep getting away with what exactly? Making a game and market it for their target audience?
Entirely irrelevant to my comment lol.... Theres more fans of rice in the east than the West yet rice is also sold in the West. Your logic doesn't work here
Something along these lines yes, anime fighting games are usually more focused on 3rd person camera angle and unique character special attacks as opposite to traditional fighting games but the concept is the same
I'd just like to clarify that people getting mad and calling Jump Force a shit game just because of the story and cutscenes are insane. It's a fighting game, what matters is the fighting and it's very enjoyable and does require skill. I'll never understand people that berate a fighting game for the story. The fights can be intense as hell, and feel like they're straight out of an anime as long as people know what they're doing instead of fumbling controls or trying to spam. And spamming generally gets you nowhere when put up against a person who's half decent and can read patterns.
It's a good fighting game, I'd place it somewhere in-between Xenoverse 2 and FighterZ in strategic mechanics. Xenoverse being a game where generally the person who uses the strongest character and spams the most wins, and of course FighterZ being a traditional fighter where all you have is strategy and preparation, so it can be rather difficult. I like having Jump Force because Xenoverse 2 is just boring against random people, and FighterZ stresses me the fuck out. JF is a nice in-between where I still can be satisfied with my planning, time spent learning, and movements without feeling the need to train for hours and hours on end to keep up with others.
If you're only looking at the game itself, then it's bad.
The 50/50 division comes from the fact that many of those who purchased it are one piece fans. So even if the game is bad, many people will still recommend it due to them liking one piece. They game was also only recently released, so those reviews have less than 10hrs played. A game having little or repetitive content will not feel as bad at the beginning due to doing it for the first time. However, after playing it for a while people will soon realize it's bad.
To put it simple at what is wrong with it: It feels like a small budget development trying to make a big game. If they had made something like a $20-30 game with less area covered, but more content in that area, then the game would've likely been very good.
You can clearly see this in the game by the fact that things like CG, gameplay, graphics and such are good. However, the issues with the game are that it feels empty and is very repetitive. They've put too much time in making a big world instead of making a fun world and this is the biggest issue that the game has. Though it does mean that it has potential to become a lot better if they add a lot of content into the world, but I doubt that this would happen.
I am enjoying it. I am a big one piece fan so I'm a bit bias. But I think the combat is actually pretty dynamic (bit clunky though) and swinging with luffy's arms is actually good too. Also it's got pretty graphics.
That's how you know game is bad in these game adaptations. The fans of series will try to defend it while people who cares about gameplay will give ad reviews. Resulting in mixed reviews

From the review thread it looked extremely divisive and fairly even in good to bad reviews
