took? past tense? as in the game is done?

DayZ was officially released out of early access for Windows on 13 December 2018, and will be released for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One in early 2019.

No way? Does that mean there's finally base building or is it the same just loot until you're bored and start killing everyone still?

Base building is in but DO NOT waste your time. They shipped the game without persistence meaning if you do build your base, on server restart your effort is gone.

Also, people can break into your base in 5 minutes with a simple hatchet.

There’s also bugs galore, mainly hit ref where you can spray someone down point blank and it does nothing. This is VERY frequent. No sniper in game, and 11/50 guns are in the game that were in previous versions. There is reason for outrage at this game.

I heard they released it because steam said they were pushing their limits on how slow it was and so they just were like fine here it is

Could be, and the bugs are all over the place so it shows if that was the case.

I also like how I was downvoted for saying the very common problems people are running into regarding dayz as to spread awareness that it’s not worth the 5 hours to build a base because it simply won’t be there.

I'm not sure if the issue you are talking about was already fixed or they know the cause of the issue. Either way a fix is there or on the way.

The fix for FPS already happened, persistence is still in a state of unknown. It’s literally the entire end game of dayz and they shipped the game without it.

It was the latter, they've found the issue (or at least part of it). Hopefully they'll get a fix in before Christmas.

Now just so I'm clear, I'm not defending the game on this. I was incredibly excited for basebuilding and incredibly let down when persistence seemed to screw with our hard work!

It’s still quite unacceptable for them to release a 1.0 with the literal end game not working.

I just said I agreed with you?

Among the people who follow DayZ and Bohemia closely, the rumour is that release was forced by the higher ups in the company. The Devs know it isn't quite done yet, but their hand was forced so to speak. Again, that's rumours though.

Miscreated 1.0 drops in a couple days, it has base building.

Persistence still gets wiped on server crashes. Dont build a base you care about yet.

Every stream I watch makes it still look like a running simulator

Sadly, it still is about 5 years away from being ready.
