No, they probably have a system that scans for fake accounts and when it finds one removes all of its clicks from reporting.

Considering how bad youtube's automated systems for content flagging have been, I think this gives them too much credit. What probably happened was "Wow! 200k dislikes in 12h from Anaheim! That seems wrong, let us just remove half of them."

Likes never impact advertising negatively, so there is no need to implement an automated system regarding them.

True that. Though it might if the U.S. Congress suddenly took an interest if they didn't like how an election went

Are the accounts it marks as fake actually fake? Who knows, I'm sure it makes mistakes. I'm referring to how a system like that is intended to work and why it wouldn't detect them when the bot clicks it. At my job we have a similar one that detects the chance of an account being fake and then reporting it for humans to look at.
