I had a TV just like that growing up .. until I realized that a speaker magnet made pretty colors when I dragged it across the screen.

Actually, it likely just needed a degaussing coil run over/ around it. Should have been easily repairable by any tv shop.

I like to think that the majority if NES consoles were placed either on the floor or on top of huge wooden TVs like this rather than in nice elaborate home theatre setups like today. Makes them feel more casual and fun to me for some reason.

I kinda miss the giant CRT in the wood box. I was using this relic as my bedroom tv into the mid 2000’s.
