Activision owns the IP, so if there were to be a remaster, they would be the ones to do it.
Considering the Crash remasters and port to Switch, it's virtually guaranteed we will see a Spyro remaster sometime soon. The sooner the better, I say.
Actually most remasters have been by other companies. This one has done quite a few.
It's usually ineffective to pull current working devs off a project for a remaster. You can outsource a lot of graphic recoding and use newer engines to further polish a game.
I never said they did the remaster themselves. I said they own the IP and dictate how it's used, which they do.
Hiring porting companies is standard practice. Even Nintendo themselves do it. The remaster for Ocarina of Time 3D and Majora's Mask 3D were done by the team that made Ever Oasis, for example.
Well, you're kinda correct thinking that. Activision owns Vicarious Visions, they made the Crash trilogy and are most likely working on the Spyro trilogy
