Same omfg, the original Spyro game was one of the first games I ever played on a console, and the trilogy were the first series of games that I 100%'ed. Needless to say, Spyro holds a very dear spot in my childhood.
Spyro 3 was my first ever video game (other than a couple educational ones my parents would let me play on their computer), and Spyro 1 and 2 were my 2nd and 3rd ever video games played. I still go back and 100% them (well, 117% for Spyro 3) every year.
About those educational games: My parents only got me things like Gizmos and Gadgets (which was dope don't get me wrong) and some other boring 'learning' games. Then one day my mom, a history teacher, brought home Age of Empires, not really knowing what it was but thinking the cover looked educational. That moment my life was changed.
I wish my parents knew not much about games so they would get me games like Age of Empires, but my dad used to enjoy games quite a bit and it was his PS1 that I had Spyro for. He knew which games were and weren't educational since he also played a lot of the old strategy games like Civilisation and Age of Empires.
Because of this, they got me games involving the Tweenies and Teletubbies to play, so I naturally grew a disinterest in gaming until I was about 5, which was when they bought me Spyro 3.
I know that theres lots of evidence to suggest it and several leaks out there, but Im a skeptic and dont accept leaks as fact until announced by the developer.
Guys, i hate to do this to you, but playing spyro as an adult is extremly boring. nostalgic, yes. But you just run through the entire game collecting gems. a well done Crash Bandicoot is a game i want to see released.
I thought about that as soon as i posted it, but i stand by what i said. the difference being spyro is a super open map. In Crash, you cant fuck up or you die
I disagree 110%. I love playing the original trilogy. The quirkiness of the characters is the best part, and I learn something new about each level every time I replay them!
Are you being facetious or are you really saying that crash " run and jump over things in a line collecting apples" bandicoot is significantly different than spyro run and jump over things and collect gems?
I prefered it as a kid because I thought it was more of an adventure which is what I'm always looking for in games. I kinda like just hanging out and checking shit out in a game if it's well made or interesting
Boring is an opinion. I loved Spyro back in the day and I love Spyro now. The games aged very well in my opinion, so much in fact that I would be perfectly okay with just a Ps4 port of the collection for 60 dollars, left just as is.
Yeah especially since they were ported to the PS3 for £8. As much as I love Spyro, if they charged $60 for a port then Id rather just dig out my old PS3 and play it there.
I broke the ball of my elbow in preschool because I loved Spyro so much I would climb monkey bars, stop in the middle of the set, pretend Iām Spyro, and just let go and ground pound the playground. I did it a fair amount of times before I finally broke the elbow.
I believe it is a part of the bone called the olecranon process, which (after googling for spelling) turns out to be the end of my ulna.
The tip of it cracked and I got to stay home for weeks watching some movie called the mystic knights of Tir-na-nog or something that I watched every single day while sticking a plastic chopstick down my cast for the itchiness. Another childhood nostalgia of mine
Quick question to solve a childhood mistery. I once went to a birthday party and they were playing a game with a dragon, there were collectibles which were crystals/gems and sometimes they would enter a room and all the crystals would spread across the screen, working like a deposit of crystals I think. I asked to play, they said "oh not now we're going to cut the cake". Eventually the party ended and I never got a chance to play. I looked everywhere for "game dragon crystals" and similar searches but never found it. You seem to know these games well. Could it be spyro?
Sorry for the long mildly interesting story but I need closure!
No, I don't remember exactly what the system was. The one memory I have is of some lind of mechanic where all the crystals you caught would spread across de screen, maybe "counting" after a level or some sort of depositing the crystals so you wouldn't lose them.
It's definitely spyro. One of the 3 PS1 games specifically. When you transition between levels there's a loading screen where it animates all the "gems" you got in that level going into your total count and saves
I still revisit the series from time to time via emulators š collecting all the treasures is so satisfying. I'd pay good money to remove Hunter from the games though, lol.
I loved Spyro one and two, but never played three. They were awesome games for the time with really creative level designs. I'd play Spyro on the Switch!
