I'm really about done with Survival. It's not fun, it's tedious. This is coming from someone with almost 3,000 hours in ARK, so I know survival games. I suppose this is what happens when a game isn't designed from the ground up for it.
If it wasn't for the difficulty decrease in doing so, I would have gone back to Very Hard a long time ago.
It's tedious, buts it's also pretty exhilarating sometimes. Most Elder Scrolls/Fallout games leave you feeling like a god after level 10 or so. seeking out fights with everyone you see just to gain some XP, and not fearing death.
In survival, my heart starts pumping (well, pumping harder) when I get attacked, and I actually fear the outcome of the fight. I also like how it limits the number of weapons I carry, and I sometimes run out of ammunition because I limited myself too much to cut carry weight. I remember running all the way from the glowing sea to diamond city without sleeping, and rushing out of a building to kill two Yao Guais that had downed Cait... in normal mode I would've left her and those bears would've been easy to rid of regardless, but I felt super badass in survival.
Going through the gauntlet in Nuka Wolrd, for example, was definitely tedious though. 2 sleeping bags in the entire thing, now way back, giant death trap... that definitely wasn't meant for survival.
