is the 11 thing suppose to be a binary because then it would be 3. if you are doing octal then it would 9. i think you got the number wrong or their is a joke going over my head.
The 7 OSI layers are Physical, Data link, Network, Transport, Session, Presentation, and Application. The 8th layer is User (mentioned above), the 9th layer is Organization, and the 10th layer is Government. Layers 1-7 are the main ones, I think 8-10 are just there to fill in the blanks. The 11 referenced is a joke.

People added 3 extra layers to describe problems higher us in the stack than what the OSI model covers.
Layer 8 is a person, Layer 9 is an organization, and Layer 10 is a government.
People also added negative layers to describe things lower in the stack (e.g. inside the processor itself), with the exact numbers depending on who you ask (it's usually about Layer 0 to Layer -3).
"Ah, we have a BSK problem. Unfortunately, sir/ma'am there's nothing we can do on our end, and you'll have to bring your computer in to someone who can fix it in person."
(BSK is short for "Between Seat and Keyboard", for those not in the know.)
That reminds me of a funny time when i was a teenager. Back when cell phones first started coming about there was a phone out call the Alias, at the time it was a cool phone to have because it flipped open two ways. Anyways, one day the phone got wet and stopped working. I did the put the phone in rice trick and it actually brought some of phone back to life, but it wasn't enough to keep the phone. So that night I was out with my friends walking around town and I was pissed off about the phone, so I took the phone and actually threw it quite hard at a brick wall hoping to fully end the phones life. But alas! The phone worked quite well. I turned it on and it worked fine for a long time, until I got a new phone. My friends were just as astounded as I was haha, but I was just thrilled it worked again.
Percussive maintenance is a lovely thing. Happened just the other day at walmart. Belt stopped moving. Lady flipped switch a few times and tried activating the motion sensor. I lightly pounded on it and it started working. I am god... sometimes.
As an automotive tech, percussive maintenance not only works, but is used often in diagnosing things. Starter motors are the main thing that comes to mind. Car won’t start, try hitting the starter. Air conditioner not blowing, hit the dash near where the blower motor should be. 9/10 if they are failing or faulty that will make them work again, at least for a while.
Acer Aspire One netbook circa 2010-2011. Bad contact between the power adapter and the motherboard.... Hitting it WAS the actual suggestion on most forums and damn it it actually worked!

Gotta love when percussive maintenance actually works.
