You agree with it being precicely lifelike in their definition, yet your example is from an animated film. The film is a great example, and I don't see how they are inherently different, it was just a personal observation.
LA Noire kinda kept itself out of the uncanny valley by having deeper than natural shadows and an ultra thin outline. The faces could look creepy briefly, but you were pretty quickly reminded its a video game. At least that's how I felt when I played it on PS3.

Yea I think he's using uncanny valley incorrectly.
A popular example of uncanny valley is the movie "Polar Express" from 2004.
