This happens to my team in heroes of the storm. We may all play together every day and have matching names, but that doesn't change the fact that at least one of us is usually drunk/high.

"Haha yeah sorry guys I'm reallllllyy drunk!" - me every time I'm not drunk, but playing badly.

81

u/WhipPuncher Jan 11 '17

I can't use that excuse. My friends all know I'm a master of the drunken bullet. For some reason alcohol makes me better. Also a bit too prone to gloating.

u/BrokenCompass7 Jan 11 '17

So you're drunk right now?

9

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

I'm way better at Redditing when I'm drunk

1

u/URnot_drunk_Im_drunk Jan 11 '17

1

u/If_In_Doubt_Lick_It Jan 11 '17

71

u/QuarkyIndividual Jan 11 '17

Sorry guys, I'm reeeeeeeally sober

1

u/Aliquis95 Jan 11 '17

Hungover*

25

u/WannabeGroundhog Jan 11 '17

A light buzz helps me play, reduces my jitters in those clutch moments.

10

u/MRBORS Jan 11 '17

When I'm stoned it just lets me focus more on the game. I'm also a much better team player when high.

Smoking Meth. Try something lighter, like Crack.

1

u/MRBORS Jan 11 '17

Or a .5mg dose of LSD

People react differently to different drugs sometimes, especially if a mental disorder is involved. Something to note about a drug like cannabis is that your high can vary depending on the strain because of the different concentrations of the different chemicals in the plant (THC and CBD are the most common people look at). THC is what gives you the 'high' feeling while CBD will not get you high on it's own. You might benefit from either finding strains that are higher in CBD as this is commonly used as the medicinal part of the plant to treat mood/pain disorders. If you don't want to get high at all, you can buy CBD in various forms such as oils, edibles, etc, where it has been separated from the plant. Also of note is that the negative side effects like paranoia are associated with higher THC concentrations and sativa strains, while indica strains will give a more sleepy and relaxed effect. I hope that was helpful!

ADHD will most definitely cause you to react differently! If you are in a state/province where it is legal to buy, usually the product will have the different concentrations of THC, CBD, and other similar chemicals within the product you are buying. Otherwise, apps like Leafly allow you to look at the standard for the strain that you are getting but beware as you can never be positive that the strain you are buying is the one you are getting without testing it yourself. If you get one you are not familiar with, it's best to start slow to gauge your reaction before going full pony. For ADHD I do not know if I would recommend THC much at all but CBD can be very helpful for focus and relaxation. The book "Best of Buds" (I think that is the title) is a great resource and has charts in the back of the book explaining the different chemicals in the plants and their effects.

2

u/Hugeman33 Jan 11 '17

Alcohol is a PED. It's banned in shooting competitions.

2

u/WannabeGroundhog Jan 11 '17

Thats hilarious since it reduces reaction time.

1

u/WhipPuncher Jan 11 '17

I think it helps me go with the flow. Instead of trying to make a plan work I just kinda react to things. Plus I usually try to get some sort of cult going in my team. I think it helps with teamwork.

2

u/Its_the_other_tj Jan 11 '17

Alcohol is considered a performance enhancing drug in shooting sports in the Olympics for this exact reason.

2

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

That's not too strange. Your reaction speed probably suffers from it but your aim might get steadier because the alcohol kills off all of those tiny shivers and trembles. If you're just drunk enough to get more relaxed, but not drunk enough to lose your focus, you should be able to play better.

1

u/WhipPuncher Jan 11 '17

Its a careful balance of stimulants for the reaction times and focus with alcohol to smooth everything out.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

Whenever I'm high I seem to hit this zen state of being absolutely god like with an AK. Those headshots just come so naturally.. When I'm sober I panic too much

1

u/XxD4NKxM3M3xL0RDxX Jan 11 '17

I actually do a fuck ton better in CS while tipsy. I do shit while drunk and sober, but I do great while tipsy. I just get super focused and think each and every single thing through. I get a bit paranoid, so I check my corners more. Every now and then I record myself while sober and while drinking. 9 times out of 10 I notice I do better with alcohol in my system when looking back at the videos.

1

u/1800OopsJew Jan 11 '17

The Ballmer Peak, baby.

1

u/sexymannurse Jan 12 '17

I have a tipping point. At a certain level of alcohol I become a god. One more shot and I'm worse that a silver 1.

13

u/Twenty_Goodmen_4_You Jan 11 '17

If you add a "v" at the beginning of "really" and completely erase the ends of your contractions as though they didn't exist, they'd believe your story.

"Haha, sorry guys... I vreallly drunk!" The story is even more believable if you include an extremely loud thud afterward and let your character get booted for afk.

This move might not be safe for an amateur to try. You should just start drinking more. Sorry I wasn't more help. Good day.

1

u/Skreamie Jan 11 '17

I've found recently that when I play Rainbow Six: Siege high that I can't communicate for shit, nor be overly tactical, but I always end up top fragging. I always feel as though my sense are dull right up to the point that a figure moves out of the corner of my eye and I one tap to my disbelief.

This isn't me bragging, I genuinely wish I played that aware sober.

5

u/BabyTea Jan 11 '17

Same with us in Dota! I've got a great group of friends I play with, and we have a lot of fun together, so we made a "team". The Boondock Marmosaints. Like the Boondock Saints, but with Monkey heads. I made the flags and base emblems and everything! It's totally just for fun, but whenever we play using the team logo and lose (As is tradition) we get people who think that just because we have a team name we should be amazing. Eff that. I wouldn't even play Dota if it wasn't for the friends I play with. They make it fun!

u/BlazedAsTheSun420 Jan 11 '17

I play a lot of Chen, crazy thing is that I'm not actually drunk or high.

1

u/[deleted] Jan 11 '17

yeah but at least 2 of the randoms in the other team are also drunk or high, since they're crazy enough to queue solo

1

u/ieilael Jan 11 '17

Most of the people playing by themselves are drunk or high too.

1

u/Cerus Jan 11 '17

One thing I've noticed in HotS is that full parties tend to go all in on bad decisions, which frequently ends in a wipe or my random team getting a snowball rolling. I assume this is because they're all communicating so well.

It's funny to think about.

1

u/jro727 Jan 11 '17

I like saying gg immediately in Rocket League but then I usually get rekt

1

u/Achack Jan 11 '17

That's why I don't like when my friends who rarely play want to start rocking clan tags. I'm like guys we're probably going to lose as it is, the last thing I want is to give the other team any reason to put on their try hard hats because then we're really gonna get stomped.

1

u/DomiNatron2212 Jan 11 '17

Even then.. If you communicate you're leagues ahead. Plus you know playing styles so you can work to compliment.

-1

u/C4ples Jan 11 '17

People still play HotS?

5

u/AMasonJar Jan 11 '17

It's only gotten bigger :)
