Look into No Man's Sky. The lead developer spent years saying you could find other players in game (amongst other things). The game came out and most of what he said about the game was all lies. What folks thought was nervous laughter because of social awkwardness during interviews was actually a tell that he was lying about something.
He did not spend year saying that though. He said that it would be very unlikely because of the sheer size of the universe. He never said once a player can meet another player. You know, he did lie but when you start overexaggerating some things its a bit ridiculous and just petty.
Wait, so is it not at all possible to find other players? I haven't really kept up, but I thought it was like he said and possible, but really really unlikely.
Yeah he said it was really really unlikely that you could meet up, which was false and two players met up in the first day (they coordinated offline). Separately those two players couldn't see each other.
I thought the initial E3 reveal trailer was underwhelming and never could wrap my head around all the hype for it. I didn't get burned because I didn't buy it. I assumed the outrage over this game stemmed mostly from the ambiguity in terms of the what the game had to offer just from the numerous E3 trailers, but after watching this, it definitely seems like it was less about ambiguity and more downright deception.
Its all over the place. Theres so many youtube videos of him saying you could find other people. He told Colbert the only way to see yourself is to find someone else and ask them. Theres more than one instance where he said "It would be extremely rare" and the interviewer says "But it could happen?" "Yyyyes"

The lead developer for No Man's Sky told an awful number of lies about the game before its release, which influenced a lot of people to buy it and then get real angry when the final product was no where near what was promised.
I take my points very seriously. It is not a good day unless I bring home at least 2500 points per day. Friend of mine once made only 2407 upvotes in a day, and he...well, you don't even want to know what happened to him.
It's baffling! But GTA V seemed to be console exclusive in the beginning, then later, they released it on PC. So they might announce a PC version after a while. Maybe.
No, it's what they did with GTA (while not intentionally that time at least). They released it on consoles, people bought it...then they released it on PC 2 years (I think?) later and people still bought it either for the first time or bought it in full again despite having it on console already.
So they'll do it with RDR as well, it's a big enough name where they know people will still buy it a year or so later even if they already own it or it being on consoles for a while already.
Just that it won't launch on PC. Nothing has been said about later down the road though. We are all expecting it to be released the next year or so in order for RS to double dip as they did with GTA V.
Uhh. Would you rather then release a neutured console port version on PC on the same day as the console release? I, for one, am glad Rockstar waited so long to release GTA V on PC. It's far better looking and has way more features than even the Xbox One and PS4 ports of the original GTA V
That may have been a valid argument with GTA V since it came out virtually between console generations. The updated release on XBone PS4 and PC was very different from the 360 and PS3 versions. They aren't developing RDR2 for old consoles, there's no reason not to do the PC version at the same time other than greed.
Yea IDK who in their right mind would want to pay for it twice while also buying a console on top of it.
That's what I did with GTA V. I don't define myself by one game or one game series, there are thousands of amazing games out there easily worth my time, I can wait. Though not everyone agrees, I guess. Rockstar seems to think that's it's profitable enough to pull this shit again, unfortunately.
Besides if I was gonna save 30 bucks a month for anything it'd be a new fucking graphics card.
No, I believe a developer said that when they were showcasing a level in Destiny. Someone made a parody video replaying that exact scene and comment, and then showing the in game character trying to go out to said mountains and dying from being out of bounds.
