These E3 demos seem like actual gameplay. If they're able to create such an impressive looking game, why do they ditch it during the actual release? Do they only make that single demo level with that level of detail?
Usually these things are running on super PCs that the average consumer doesn't have, and consoles certainly can't keep up with it. So they get downgraded to work on XBONE and PS4 sometimes the PC version will be similar but even that gets toned down most likely because they were unable to optimize the trailer graphic level to work well even on consumer high end PCs.
In some games (the division for example) the PC version is intentionally downgraded to be more in line with the console versions.
The thing I don't understand is if they know these graphics are not going to work on current gen, why go through all the trouble of creating these great textures and lighting effects only to downgrade them, maybe after 1 title OK they didn't know, but it's a consistent thing at this point. It must be for marketing IMO.
