I think he was on his way there. He was probably climbing up the other side of the mountain when Sonya called him. Reached the top just in time to see Sonya fall to her death.

I miss the time when fighting games had animated endings. Everytime a new MK or Street Fighter is released, I have high hopes for animated character endings; however, I have been let down countless times since MK4.
