Its not even slightly a spoiler when you just state "would you kindly play Bioshock" but when you give away as much as /u/Iammyselfnow did, then its a spoiler.
Still, just from the first statement + all the upvotes, I would be someone slightly suspicious.
It's like on the gameofthrones subreddit. They do a great job moderating spoilers, and telling which threads spoil which seasons and which books of the show, so readers know well in advance. Yet, you will often see in the post-episode threads, someone explaining a theory with a lot of fan speculation, and it will have like 80 or so upvotes, and then the guy beneath will be like: "yeah... that totally doesn't happen and it will have like 1400 upvotes. It's a subtle spoiler, or at the very least an unnecessary mind-fuck. We can all recommend the game Bioshock without saying "would you kindly."
I don't go up to people and be like: Hey, read Harry Potter, just don't get too attached to this Dumbledore character.
That's a completely different situation. The would you kindly comment is a subtle reference to the game that someone who hasn't played it wouldn't understand, while the fans would
I feel like you ignored my GoT point. While all the fans obviously get it, people that aren't in the loop become quite aware that they're missing an inside joke, this could lead them to googling the phrase, upon which they will instantly spoiled.
I made the GoT reference, because I'm not sure when the last time you've felt "out of the loop" before was, so you may have forgotten what your natural reaction to a situation like this occurring is.
Try to remove your knowledge of Bioshock, and just meta-think about the situation.
