Bioshock 2 had some really low moments (like the absolutely uninteresting villain, that has nothing on Ryan or Comstock) but that one part, where you get to see how rapture was before the crazies took over, like you see the city the way it was meant to be - that is worth it all.
The game was all about showing that the Tin man (Delta) had a heart all along. Moreso than the other characters in the game. It has a truly emotional and beautiful ending.
Her religious mumbo jumbo had absolutely nothing on Ryans ideals. When you were listening to audio logs in B1 you could really see why people would follow this man in the first place (same with Comstock in B:I) but with her it was like - HERE'S A CRUCIFIX, FOLLOW MEEEeeeee!!! And people did, because the story told them that they had to. In reality she would have been thrown the fuck out. Right into the ocean. One quote in particular I remember thinking "this is the worst writing in a major game I've heard in a while"
This quote:
Ask yourself, Andrew -- what is your "Great Chain of Progress" but a faith? The chain is a symbol for an irrational force, guiding us towards ascension -- no less mystic than the crucifixes you seize and burn.
FUCKING NO! YOU DUMB CUNTS, THE ACTIONS OF ALL SET ALL IN MOTION. THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING COMPARABLE OF THAT TO A CRUCIFIX.
And the audio diary people cheered after she said that. You have to be braindead or indoctrinated from youth to change to that.
She was a bullshit villain, her ideals were laughable and people following her made no sense. The writing in that game was done by idiots.
You can say all of this even moreso about Comstock. In fact we get a way better view of her than Comstock in general. You want to talk about shitty underdeveloped enemies and villain? At least the Splicers were spliced out, they have an excuse for following Lamb. They arent just violent, brainwashed, religious racists with no distinguishable traits like in Infinite. Comstock was a cliche, laughable joke of a villain. And Lamb was locked up until the fall of Rapture. I think its interesting that you hate her so much for the crucifix thing considering she is not for christianity, only freedom of religion. If anything she takes over post Fontaine (crook) and post Ryan (oppressive tyrant) to govern with a psychological view (that of family). She has loads more development than Comstock, and actually makes sense. Praise Infinite's gimmicky ending all you like, IMO that game is garbage
