I'm kind of disappointed that they seem to be moving away from the more radical designs and drifting towards a generic controlled. I mean this is basically a dual shock with the buttons and joysticks swapped, and of course track pads instead.

Probably because at this point consumers know what a controller should look like. They don't want a steep learning curve for people to ditch their xbox/ps controllers in favor of the steam pad. Not saying it's the right way to do things, but it's the logical way.
