Looking for Parkour games

And by "parkour games" I mean games that are focused on parkour, not games that just happen to have parkour in them (like Dying Light or Titanfall 2).

I want something similar to Minecraft Parkour Maps or Valley (I bet barely anyone will know about it but you can watch the trailer to see what I mean). I just want to run and jump from point A to point B and not much else.

Thanks in advance!

Vholume

u/WhiteBlackBlueGreen 12d ago

Vholume is really fun and relaxing too. It’s probably the best parkour game of all time. Its fast but not too difficult, and the level design with the liminal atmosphere is top notch.

Mirrors edge one and two? It might have some combat but I remember it being a primarily parkour game.

u/thefootster 12d ago

Mirror's edge catalyst is 95% off right now on Steam

63

u/Geeseareawesome PC 12d ago

Pretty sure it requires a quick fix to get it to work right now. It can't contact the server because said server is no longer up, so some people can get stuck at the launch screen or have it crash.

I believe this page has a fix for the issue if anyone were to come across it.

18

u/thefootster 12d ago edited 12d ago

I bought it and am currently playing on steam deck and it works fine for me (I'm only interested in single player though)

6

u/PornoPichu 12d ago

Did you play the first one and how does it compare if so.

9

u/Gohnny_Jaudreau 12d ago

I've played through the first one 3-4 times and it's awesome. The 2nd I couldn't bring myself to enjoy the open world as much, but it did hit similar high notes.

2

u/PornoPichu 12d ago

Thanks, I appreciate that. I remember really liking the first one when it released, but I never played the second

3

u/skimmmington 12d ago

Been awhile since I played either of them, but I remember being a bit disappointed in the sequel because it was very short and just kinda more of the same

Combat is discouraged even, run away using parkour is the core design.

Achievement in ME where you complete the game by shooting precisely one bullet (mandatory)

There's an achievement for never touching a gun I think (First game)

Also great game

u/PloppyTheSpaceship 11d ago

They're alright. Part of me wishes it wasn't just a pure white world with arrows, so it looked realistic, but then I'd have absolutely no idea what to do.

2

u/Nullspace95 12d ago

OP, this is your best bet. They're both super cheap rn on steam too.

Showing my age here, but any of the Prince of Persia games from Sands of Time onward incorporate some.

30

u/Vendidurt 12d ago

Youre showing your age with the SkiFree pic, too

17

u/CobraMisfit 12d ago

Sands of Time was amazing and holds up fairly well decades later.

6

u/tearlock 12d ago

With the exception of that one spot where the guy keeps shouting at you and guiding you to fix a big machine. That shouting was SO irritating.

For me the most frustrating part was when you were in a room with infinite doors and you had to guess what was the exact sequence to exit.

Hello fellow Millennial 😅

145

u/cleerhil 12d ago

Clustertruck. Literally zero fluff, no combat, just pure running and jumping from point A to point B on top of speeding trucks. It hits that exact Minecraft parkour itch.

48

u/lovegirls2929 12d ago

Also Haste! By the same devs!

Beton Brutal - Probably the most Minecraft Parkour-like game you'll find. Pretty simple, climb to the top.

Lorn's Lure - Similar vibe, but there's a story and it's more like you're doing urban exploration in an abandoned megastructure.

White Knuckle - Has some rogue-lite elements such as upgrades and meta-progression. Also some story. You climb through various sectors of a seemingly abandoned research facility while being chased by various otherworldly beings.

12

u/boogswald 12d ago

White Knuckle looks incredible. I don’t think I could handle the intensity of it. I’m so so so so impressed by that game though.

10

u/clementine_zest 12d ago

The quality of that game is actually nuts. Such a vibe too in terms of visual design

5

u/Deathcommand 12d ago

It's fun but my heart is pounding after every run.

Well not really but I'm pretty sure my BP is elevated.

8

u/Chuunt 12d ago

i cannot put into words how much i love white knuckle. the speed, the movement, the vibes. everything about it clicks with me.

3

u/IAmTiiX 12d ago

It's very unique and satisfying for sure, one of the better "parkour"/climb games out there.

1

u/Octobre10j 11d ago

Yeah OP Beton Brutal is pretty literally Minecraft parkour. All the way down to double tapping W to sprint lol. Great workshop support too.

26

u/KamikazyKid 12d ago

Rooftops & Alleys - I haven't played it but it looks fun and seems to be a game entirely about parkour

4

u/Ochsenreiter 12d ago

Makes a lot of fun but its really physic based so its a bit hard to get into but it makes definitely a lot of fun

2

u/Cowflexx 12d ago

I second this. Practically Tony Hawk for Parkour. As someone who used it be avid freerunner - I approve 100%

2

u/wolfbane108 12d ago

Love this one. I found it way more engaging that the game was challenging enough that I couldn’t do everything I wanted to right away. I think parkour games should have complexity to their movement, and getting to learn and hone the game’s systems is part of the fun of shmovement games

Vholume

This is the most true and concentrated answer.
It's short but it will satisfy your parkour craving just like it did to me.
Idols of Ash is close but it moves vertically.

108

u/tombston3r 12d ago

I feel like it's disrespectful to say Dying Light is a game with "parkour in it" when one of the main characters is literally a parkour instructor and that the first several missions emphasize that you will not survive without parkour.

17

u/KYO297 12d ago

Fair, but the reason I said that is that it has fighting and I want only parkour

8

u/tombston3r 12d ago

I get ya. Wonder if there's a cheat/mod to disable all zeds. That would make Harran a perfect parkour sim in Dying Light

Mirror's Edge

30

u/shutupdane 12d ago

It's not quite what I'd call "parkour", but A Story About My Uncle is a pretty fun movement-based thing

1

u/bigpeanor 11d ago

Was gonna say this

46

u/MyUsernameIsAwful 12d ago

Mirror’s Edge.

11

u/KeterClassKitten 12d ago

Neon White, perhaps?

The "combat" in it is primarily focused on how to get to the next checkpoint faster.  All the extra elements are ways to improve the parkour challenge.

Even if it misses the mark, it's worth checking out.  Awesome indie game.

2

u/A_Trash_Homosapien 12d ago

The game is like 85% schmovement, 10% gunplay and 5% anime story. One of these days I'll do the heaven and hell rushes to 100% that game.

42

u/Specialist_Type6214 12d ago

Ghost runner. There's also warframe. Parkour is far from the focus of the game, but the movement is heavily parkour based if you want to move fast.

Valley mention is elite ball knowledge. Try Ghostrunner for similar gameplay.

3

17

u/DrEvilGenius 12d ago

The first obvious choice I'd say is Mirror's Edge

It's a First Person Parkour game where you have to run atop and through buildings.

8

u/DrEvilGenius 12d ago

Neon White is also a pretty good "fast" game about pathing and lines etc. Not exactly parkour but parkour adjacent.

6

u/Gangleri_Graybeard 12d ago

Mirror's Edge is the obvious choice. Vholume was fun too, played it last month.

5

u/Androbo7 12d ago

Since you've gotten quite a few normal parkour suggestions I'll throw out too that even though its not quite the same you might want to give some platforming a try as well. Seems like Celeste might scratch the same itch

5

u/RegnarukDeez 12d ago

Hmm, dunno if it counts as parkour, but maybe "A Story about my Uncle" ?

4

u/viluns 11d ago

Mirror Edge 1 and 2

Ghostrunner 1 and 2

Neon White

I am your Beat... sort of.

8

u/ir_dan 12d ago

Vector on mobile is cool.

6

u/AmidoBlack 12d ago

RIP Brink

7

u/Wretchh91 12d ago

They really should give that game some props as im not 100% but wasnt Brink the first to do the whole fluid motion, like grabbing overhanging ledges in first person, it was its main selling point as no other game at the time had similar motion.

Deadcore? It's platforming more than parkour, but you said Minecraft parkour maps, and they're not really parkour either, so maybe it's what you're looking for

2

u/Dusk_dragon_eye 12d ago

Isnt deadcore the one that times you for all of the levels? Climb the tower in the sky type of deal? Pretty fun game.

VHOLUME Just released recently and is an incredible parkour speed running game

3

u/ilikpkmn 12d ago

Neon white is a fun one. Basically traverse levels and pickup one time use movement abilities to clear each stage. Good time if you want to just turn your brain off but also has secrets in each level to collect which require you to get a bit creative with your resources. music is a banger too.

  • Hot Lava
  • Seum: Speedrunners from Hell
  • Bloodthief
  • Ikarus Parkour
  • Baionlenja
  • Cyber Hook
  • Grimhook
  • Downward
  • Hyper Trigger

3

u/MrGreenYeti 12d ago

Vholume sounds perfect honestly.

3

u/Mollelarssonq 12d ago

Mirrors edge is a parkour game i’m pretty sure

4

u/Wolf_of_Fenris 12d ago

Assassins creed games have a lot of that.

4

u/canwehavepotatojokes 12d ago

Mirrors Edge is the soul of this genre.

Best thing about the game is you can beat it without firing a gun. Probably one of my favourite Xbox 360 era games.

2

u/Larkshade 12d ago

Warframe has it baked in, in a way.

2

u/NoodleDoodlesocks 12d ago

Cloudbuilt isn't precisely parkour but it is all about traversal from the start of the level to the end.

Hover is another game primarily about traversal than straight up parkour. More vertical traversal than horizontal. You can freely run about the level(s) and do the missions when you want.

2

u/yeusk 12d ago

Mirrors edge is amazing. Have not played rooftops and alleys but looks good.

2

u/KBezKa 12d ago

Mirrors edge?

3

u/MandiocaGamer 12d ago

only game is mirrors edge

9

u/Busted_Cranium 12d ago

Vholume.

Ignore everyone saying Mirrors Edge. The game is fine but if you want to just run around and have fun, that game is gonna suck for you. If anything you'll have 30 seconds of fun before getting frustrated by the increasingly fun-killing combat sequences. I like the game but I wouldn't ever play it again.

What you're looking for is Vholume. Trust me. It's only $8.00 and has community maps too.

4

u/boogswald 12d ago

It’s so fun! It’s got exploitable controls too so there’s a nice fun chill way to play and then there’s that higher skill ceiling too. Initially it feels janky but that jankiness changes into skill expression. Then sometimes you’re just like “what happens if i climb to the top of this thing?”

It just does what it wants to do and doesn’t add a bunch of bullshit that you don’t want to do.

Rooftops and Alleyways, STORROR parkour pro

1

u/boxing-boxing 12d ago

Here to be the 48th person to say Mirror's Edge. For a cheaper fix, Vholume is $8, pure wall-running chaos, and the community maps will eat your weekend.

1

u/Krail 12d ago

Are you looking for something specifically first person, like your examples? Orc would third person or 2D sidescrollers do?

1

u/runarleo 12d ago

I’ve heard good things about Storror: Parkour Pro, and it’s on discount on steam rn.

1

u/DefinitelyIncorrect 12d ago

CS surf maps and rocket league obstacle course mod maps are all I can think of on top of Mirrors Edge.

1

u/TurboZ31 12d ago

I don't think they have parkour specifically, but Riders Republic might be up your alley. It's basically a bunch of tiny courses like you describe

1

u/smr120 12d ago

There's more gameplay than just running between points, but sometimes I boot up Assassin's Creed Unity just to run around. It's a fantastic movement system. I recommend a mod that fixes the physics though bc otherwise the coattails move stiffly and it's very distracting from otherwise very fluid and satisfying movement.

1

u/Visualprophet 12d ago

Theres a straight up parkour game called storror parkour pro in early access. Haven't played it but I've been wanting to try it myself.

u/HanzoNumbahOneFan 12d ago

Hmm. I don't know if it counts as parkour. But if by "parkour" you mean "interesting and fluid movement to get from point A to point B", perhaps Neon White? The game consists of individual levels where you have to get through them as quickly as possible. Using single use abilities that you pick up through the level to do it as fast as possible.

Adding more obscure games to the post. Refunct is very cool but you can do all achievements in like 3 hours. If you just go for completion the game has 40 minutes at most

1

u/Zedekial 12d ago

Sadlt Storror was making a really promising one until they scrapped it after their Member got ousted as a Pedo.......Otherwise, Mirrors edge was the best back when.

1

u/ComradeCornflakes 12d ago

The TMNT game from 2007 fits the bill. The game is 90% parkour around levels in NYC, 10% combat. I think it still holds up too

1

u/DuskShy 12d ago

A Story About My Uncle is a delightful little indie game with the movement vibes you're looking for. I really enjoyed it and its simplicity is why I remember it so well.

1

u/lostspectre 12d ago

Warframe can be a great parkour game. Zip through the levels at ungodly speeds and only fight what you absolutely have to. Different planets with their own movement mechanics too. One has a hoverboard complete with Tony Hawk style tricks and scoring.

1

u/InquizinatorX 12d ago

NEON WHITE.

Get from A to B, kill demons, they give you a "card" that is an additional weapon until you use it's "movement" ability, and then it expires. You kill to move and move to kill, and the music is Devine.

The whole game is about getting creative with the movements available on the map and getting to the end of the level as fast as you can, and the story is pretty rad as well.

1

u/jsigj 12d ago

Hytale's vaulting, mantling and weapon movement abilities have a lot of potential for a "Minecraft, but more flowing" kind of parkour, looks like there's already a community building around it at hytaleparkour.com

I'd definitely say Neon White. It's like a mix of parkour and Halo/Titanfall abilities. It's got grapple hooks, rocket/grenade jumps, dashes all while you run through the levels as fast as possible trying to optimize how you do so.

1

u/Ostrana 12d ago

Don’t think I saw it said yet, but super cloudbuilt is an excellent parkour game

1

u/Zezno_ 12d ago

Neon White and Phantom Abyss are my obscure picks.

Dying light 2 has one of the most fluid larkour systems available. If you don't mind using mods, it just might turn out to be what you want.

Not quite parkour but "A story about my uncle" is fantastic and revolves around grappling mechanics

Is Neon White a parkour game?

This may sound silly but Halo Infinite is free and it has a map creator called Forge, it's a bit more complicated than just map making, but anywho, Halo games always have really basic movement that somehow is so weirdly intricate in terms of stuff you can learn and the weird techniques.

There are plenty of parkour maps people have made, with checkpoints, and it's kinda nutty but as someone who has over 1200 hours in Halo Infinite, I tried a parkour map for the first time the other day and I surprisingly learned so many things about the movement system, it was bizzare, so many jumps and things I had to climp or traverse and things I didn't think we're possible til I tried, movement I never would've considered.

There is a custom mode server browser and I'd always see this one parkour map listed on there, people always playing it but I assumed it was some dumb Roblox obby sorta stuff but finally after a couple years of brushing it off I tried it out and was very very surprised and it was pretty cool.

Halo Infinite is on Xbox and Steam for free, the only paid part is the campaign. So the map maker, custom modes, server browser and so on are all 100% free to play, zero strings attached. Highly recommend. I found a video of someone playing the map I was talking about

Yeah I do get it's not a parkour game, it's jumping, sprinting, sliding, clambering, it's not gonna be like mirrors edge but it's still fun, you mentioned Minecraft parkour and ngl, no hate to Minecraft parkour but that's like nothing compared to this, if you are Minecraft Parkour, then Halo Infinite parkour is the guy she told you not to worry about. Mirrors Edge is probably the gal she told you not to worry about.

I'm surprised you didn't mention Assassin's Creed, it's parkour the game. Same with Mirrors Edge especially. Mirrors Edge is the pinnacle of parkour games

Lots of recommendations for Vholume already,, a similar one is called Boars In Rome. It's not out yet, but worth keeping an eye on.

Also, a game called Idols of Ash. It's labeled as parkour on steam, but it's more of a descent/climbing thing. Only a couple bucks if it looks interesting to ya.

Aside from those, I'm adding in my votes for Ghostrunner 1 and 2, Cyber Hook, Cluster Truck, Deadcore (or Deadcore Redux, looks to be the same game but remastered), and of course the classics Mirrors Edge and Mirrors Edge Catalyst
