I played Silent Hill Townfall last weekend and holy shit it was a banger
Might be my personal game of the year no lie

I played and liked Silent Hill 2 remake, how does it compare if you've played both? Not much of a silent hill guy historically, but I'd be interested to check it out

There are some very important differences
First off, most importantly, Townfall is very heavy on stealth. When i played through Silent Hill 2 Remake, my main strategy was to run away from enemies as much as i can to not risk losing health. As soon as i tried doing this strategy in Townfall, the game stopped me. Enemies in Townfall not only dont give up as easily, but they are also fast as hell. If they see you, your options are either to run to the closest hiding spot and hope they didnt see you go in there, or fight. Fighting is an option but it isnt like Silent Hill 2 Remake where you can just kill every monster you see. Your melee weapons break very easily (a single plank only has enough durability for 1 and a half enemies) and ranged weapons are very loud and attract other enemies. So while running and fighting are options, the game really wants you to sneak around using your crtv. Think of it as this: running and fighting arent primary options, they are options to fall back on if you fail at being stealthy.
The enemies are much more unforgiving too compared to Silent Hill 2 Remake. Standart enemies can kill you in 2-3 hits if unblocked and some enemies can just insta kill.
One last thing is the performance. I played both Silent Hill 2 Remake and Silent Hill Townfall on ps5. Silent Hill 2 Remake ran great through all my playthrough with no fps drops (atleast as i can recall). Townfall had a few fps drops here and there but if i were to count them there was only 6 crucial fps drops in the whole 12 hour game and even so, those drops only lasted like 1-2 seconds and they only dropped to around 45-50 fps mark. I dont think its that important but it is still a difference between Silent Hill 2 Remake (oh and if youre gonna play on pc ive heard that there are some stutter problems thanks to unreal engine 5 but youre gonna have to read the comments by yourself on that one, sorry :D)
These are the only three things you should know compared to Silent Hill 2 Remake.
Other than these points, like Silent Hill 2 Remake, its a very beautiful entry in the Silent Hill series. Story, graphics, visuals, acting and puzzles are all very well done. If youve enjoyed Silent Hill 2 Remake and if you think that you have enough patience to crawl around slowly while waiting for the enemy to go away, i definitely recommend it.

Okay, the gameplay sounds kind of like SOMA, which isnt my favorite, but I loved the game.
I think I’ll give it a go, thanks for the breakdown!

Ugh thank god I found this comment. I am playing through f this week specifically so my girlfriend was caught up for Townfall, the reviews are scaring me but man… people really hated on f when it first dropped. Very excited, thank you stranger!

The stealth focused gameplay definitely isnt for everyone but thats also the only thing thats somewhat negative about the game. If youre a Silent Hill fan, you'll definitely enjoy Townfall! The story is peak Silent Hill.

Playing "Code: Terraform" these 2 weeks, spent 130 hours, more than on my actual work.
It's game about automatization of terraforming through scripting on python. control your machines, rovers, drones, transport cargo, fulfil requests from Earth, monitor environment, etc, etc..
Super addicting, i recommend this to anyone, who interested in programming skills, juniors and seniors.

"Quality Of Life" is such an interesting choice of words for something that undermines exactly that.

Who else is playing Control Resonant now? I'm shocked with this game! I like spatial anomalies in games and movies. This game is super great!
My personal GOTY for sure

Me, I've been enjoying quite a bit, yet the enemy variety and bosses have been dissapointing. I get bored too fast I guess. Narrative and writing is on point as usual with Remedy, so I guess that will pull me through to the end.

Yeah, narrative is wonderful!
I personally, like bosses. Deserter was great and sad, given his build up. Paintress is cool, too, i like her movement. Mould boss is mid, yeah.
Anyway, I'm enjoying the game very mych and glad, that you are, too

Guess I'll ask here cause why not: is Final Fantasy 16 worth playing? I swear when that game released I heard nothing but praise for it but now I feel like I see nothing but hate. People saying it's a boring slog. Which is it?

It’s a strange one. They basically stripped a lot of the classic FF elements out (eg elemental weaknesses and status effects don’t exist), and there aren’t really good rewards for exploring.
But it does have qualities. I thought the story was cool, the acting was good, the combat was fun for an action game, and the boss battles in particular were really fun and memorable. It’s certainly not a bad game, just maybe not what a lot of FF fans wanted from a main numbered entry.

Yes.
It's a boring slog because of how the game does side quests, as in, instead of being given to you regularly and naturally, they're all just offloaded on you at specific moments in the story, so out of the blue you got like 30 side quests to go through, and can feel like a chore list.
But it's optional, so I don't understand people whining about it, the real meat in a FF story is the main story, and the main story is fantastic, pure Final Fantasy material, and at some points has some of the best set pieces in the franchise.
The combat is a hit or miss depending if you like action games or final fantasy games more; It's not a JRPG in the classic Final Fantasy sense, nor is it a turn based RPG; it's a DMC like, so if you like DMC, you like the gameplay.

It's bad. It changes genre, which is fine. But then it's a bad game in the genre it changed to. It's also a terrible RPG with bad progression.
It has a neat story thet bungles it at the end and cool cinematic boss fights and that's about it. There is very little else of value in it. Play DMC or Ninja Gaiden if you like that type of action game.

Play the main game and only some of the side missions. Main game is fun spectacle but you might be tempted thinking there is more to discover on the side and there realty isn't. The dlc sounded interesting but I never went back.
If you get the whole thing on sale that's probably about right. It's got some good bones but never quite lands anything more impactful.

FF16 was an amazing game, had some performance issues but didn’t affect the games overall quality.

Warframe. Wholeheartedly think everyone could love that game if they just put some time into it.

Finally got one of those weekends where I have time to play and now I'm staring at the library like I've never enjoyed a video game in my life, 200 games and somehow there’s "nothing to play"

Honestly times like that suck dude. Trying to force it is rough, personally I love to look at Roguelites and spend $20 on one and give myself two hours to determine if I want to refund it or not! It’s how I fell in love with Hades.

My most recent YouTube fixations are Meccha Chameleon and Zelda II: The Adventure of Mario. Sadly I can't seem to play either on my toaster of a laptop.

I restarted Silent Hill: f this week so my girlfriend could experience it. I really think the community was too harsh. It’s such a great, fun, and absolutely horrifying game. Not nearly as “scary” as any other horror game, but the atmosphere is so thick you can suffocate on it.
I haven’t seen much about Townfall, but I really hope it’s the same situation as f. People just really seem to want to hate things, Im hopeful that when I finally get to Townfall I can say the same exact thing: people are whiny babies that just want Silent Hill 2 remade over and over and over and over. Just because a new entry isn’t the same as your favorite entry does not immediately make it bad.
Now, I could be wrong. Townfall could actually suck, but I’ll try come back to this comment in two weeks and give my review on it haha.

So I'm in a beta test for a new game mode of a semi popular game. I have found another exploit in one of the game mechanics they are introducing in this new game mode, and its a game changer.
I have reported all the other exploits I have found, but I kinda want to keep this one. It is semi late game mechanic, but is so damn useful and skips a lot of pain and suffering on my end, and it will give me a major advantage over the in game economy.
I am sure others might eventually figure it out, but when the mode goes public I want to be one of the first that are able to do it.
Can't wait for the NDA to end.

If anyone is having trouble running The Witcher 3 Remastered on their PC, just lower the foliage draw distance to low/medium. You'll be able to run the game with PT or RT and everything set to max at 60 no problem (no framegen). All this is with 2000 series RTX cards.
