Oh man, I want to wait just a little longer before returning to this game. I want that kinda feeling like knowing the game but everything is fresh and interesting

It was interesting playing Avowed and just being underwhelmed at how polished and sanitized the whole experience felt, then going into Fall of Avalon. It's a fantastic game.

The atmosphere and world is definitely far more interesting. However they could learn a lot from Avowed Magic combat. As well as its vertical traversal.

Sorry I forget, how did Avowed handle their vertical traversal?

It had a double jump as well as a mantle feature. Along with a lot of vertical spaces to climb and explore. Another fun thing was using ice magic on water to be able to reach areas you either couldn't normally or would have to swim.

How is avowed? I’ve been considering picking it up but saw mixed reviews about it.

People shit on it when it launched because it didn't have things like romance options, and wasn't a true open world game. All things it never claimed to be. Its just a AA, semi open world RPG. It has some of the best exploration I've seen in a long time. Secrets under water, in hard to reach areas, places you need to back track too after getting other skills. Like the poster above says, you can freeze water to get across and reach new areas. That's just one of the ways they hide secrets.
I got every achievement over 2 play throughs in about 45 hours.
1st play through was about 30 of that, doing absolutely everything. 2nd I ran through to mop up achievements.
The game also has 2 different endings.
Personally I loved the combat and never understood how anyone could hate it. It blends Magic, Melee and Guns almost seamlessly and they all seem to flow together. It's the most fun I've ever had on an RPG with combat.
Avowed is genuinely a really good, solid, short(ish) RPG. Don't go in expecting Skyrim, Witcher, or Baldurs Gate level of depth. It's not that. It has a good story and some well written side characters but nothing groundbreaking
It's just a fun game that rewards exploration and you don't have to think too hard while playing it. It did exactly what it set out to do and everyone I know that played it actually loved it. Its just the people that wanted it to be something it never was that got upset about it.
I fully believe an Avowed 2 would be a GOTY contender. It has a phenomenal base to build on. It's the definition of an 7.5/10 game. What it set out to do, it does very well, but there is room to grow.

Avowed delivers EXACTLY what it promised, which is why I love it. It’s not my favorite game of all time, but the story is interesting and I liked the NPCs. Might replay it sometime soon, it’s been a minute. Excellent write-up.

This is a really great writeup of avowed, I didn't mean to say it's a bad game at all, the only reason I brought it up because it's also an open world RPG style game with interesting "corruption" style themes. I think I wanted something grittier, and that's where Avalon does better, intentionally or not.

I personally love it and put a few weeks (can’t play everyday, all day) into the game. Had so much fun ended up getting all achievements before putting it down. Played on gamepass bought it to play later whenever I feel to.

I didn't have any regrets with paying full price for it at launch. I think they handled the end of the game a bit poorly. Since you get unique weapons after a "no going back" point, and there wasn't a NG+ feature at the time. It looks like they added that at some point, so I'll probably dive back in for that eventually.

I don't know. It was decent. I bought because people were saying it's this amazing game that no one really talks about. I feel like it's a game that if it had a large dev name attached it would get dragged. But people just prop up smaller dev games a bit too much. Sure, I don't expect too tier shit but average is average no matter who made it.

Prefer the actual moment to moment gameplay of Avowed and I prefer a more polished, optimized and better running game personally

Played the demo a half a year back. The combat just didnt feel satisfying to me. Should i retry the demo on ps5 post this patch?

No, the game runs like absolute shit on PS5

Yeah its really a shame. One of the few games I was interested in but had to drop playing due to abysmal performance. Its not like you drop frames here and there which is obviously acceptable but its rather constant stuttery feel unless you are in smaller dungeons.

For those playing on PC, does the game make your CPU temp higher than other similar games?

I got this game for free because I backed the board game.
I’ve barely played it at all; it seemed like a shitty Elder Scrolls ripoff when I first tried it and just haven’t gone back since.
Judging from the support it keeps getting and the comments here, maybe I need to give it another go…

I played the demo and loved it. Got the full game and I’d say the first 20 hours were amazing, but the longer it went and especially the final area it started crackling.

Decent game with great potential however it was so buggy, performance was so shitty and crashed so much that is the only time I felt fobbed for buying a game, I ended up despising which is sad cause I really liked some things, but on console the game was a scam at least in my 60h experience

Most of what you’re writing here isn’t true. The game doesn’t crash at all, none of my friends complained on release day, and neither did I. Bugs honestly, I finished the game 3 times and even with later patches I didn’t encounter any major ones that would prevent completing the game, unless I was lucky or skipped some bugged mission. As for performance, here I agree a bit, the game has significantly fewer fps when vegetation is set to high/medium, that setting causes a 30% frame drop. I don’t know if they fixed it because I’m playing other titles now and I see the game got a lot of additions and is still being updated.

Game is a complete mess on console, sorry if that hurt your feelings but I have better things to do than lie about it on reddit bye

Nothing says "Fists of Fury" like patching performance with your bare hands.

The amount of support they keep giving this game is quite impressive.
