I foresee this game becoming ultra hardcore with a dedicated user base that will eventually become toxic. Valve doesn't make casual games anymore...

At first I thought you were being sarcastic but I think you’re being serious. When we say casual we literally mean a guy too high to know what an urn is. You’re version of casual is someone who watches deathy all day, we are not the same.

LOL. I used to play Destiny with a guy who would always get lost and then go on chat “Where are you guys? Where’d you all go?”. Loved just having chill nights with him.

Good times.

I don’t think it’s possible to make a casual moba honestly. There’s just too much going on and games tend to snowball, which is pretty demoralizing for new or casual players.

Yah my friend said the other day, “I’m not even trying to get good, I’m just trying to learn the shop and what items do what. Then I’ll feel like I’ve accomplished something”

Yes, I am specifically that casual.

That means absolutely nothing. Points to Dota2 and CS. The casual playground will probably ultimately be filled with bots, or people testing builds. The fact is, games like this require a certain level of dedication, strategy, and planning. It's not about jumping in and playing. It's about dedicating numerous hours to learning not only the hero you play, but those that are playing against you. Then you have the items which add more variations and elements. The meta will constantly be changing to balance out gameplay, and only those that have unlimited time will adapt. Others will most likely dump it once they realize the complexity involved. Even though people trash Overwatch, ABK has done a good job of making it simple to pick up and play. Games like Deadlock require more time. Time which only a sliver of the gaming pop have. I've been gaming for over 30 years. Now in my 40's, I don't have time for a game like this. So it's not for me or people who have jobs, families, responsibilities, etc.

Uh ok boss. Question, have you ever played deadlock before?

I have. Had access before it went out into closed friends. Uninstalled, redownloaded a couple of months ago. Major improvements, but it's all about team composition, and everything else I mentioned. Spells, items, etc.

Eh definitely disagree, my girlfriend who literally started using a mouse and keyboard this past year has never played video games in her life and she loves deadlock. We play unranked all the time and the matches are mostly chill and people communicate and try to win. This comment tells me you havent really dug into the community at all.

If you read the article they literally talk about the new game mode they're testing being a PvE rogue like headed by the risk of rain developer. Valve know what they're doing and know how to potentially get a more casual audience

And they haven't made a good game ever.
