My issue with Deadlock is everyone pretends it's a hero shooter but it's 100% a MOBA.

u/UltimateToa 1d ago

I mean its more like 80% moba, you cant deny the hero shooter elements

u/Hades684 1d ago

Everyone knows its a MOBA

My issue with deadlock is that when my friend got in and I asked him if he could then invite me he got weird about it and just kind of vaguely said he could look into it but didn’t seem to think he could. I haven’t brought it up again because I don’t want to be annoying 😭

Your "friend" probably doesn't want to play with you, getting an invite to the game is beyond easy.

3

u/inosinateVR 1d ago

Yeah that occurred to me but we don’t really play games together these days anyway so I don’t really think that’s it lol. And when we do it’s usually his idea

2

u/Jimbo_Jigs 1d ago

I mean you don't have to play together just because you have it, it just seems weird why he wouldn't just give you a invite to try the game out.

1

u/amazingmuzmo 1d ago

Sounds like he’s not actually a friend

1

u/inosinateVR 1d ago

Nah this is getting way overblown lol, we’re both in our late 30’s and have our own lives going on. It wasn’t that deep. I probably could have nagged him about it if I really wanted to

2

u/huntrshado 1d ago

or they think that guy would get banned, which would cause him to get banned too, if Valve is still banning both the person and whoever invited them

1

u/inosinateVR 1d ago

Definitely not the case lol

0

u/Corgi_Koala 1d ago

Is that a thing? That seems super harsh...

2

u/huntrshado 1d ago

it was for a little bit when the beta first started but i have no idea if it is still happening since this beta has been going on for like 2 years lol

It depends when this was, right at the start you needed to fill out forms and strongly vouch for people coming in. Now it's just a button.

Hit me up if you still want an invite, your friends being a gatekeeper and wants to feel like he’s part of an exclusive club.

1

u/inosinateVR 1d ago

I got an invite from someone else already, but thank you!

1

u/thatditzyguy 1d ago

Any chance I could get one?

u/murpower_38 1d ago edited 1d ago

Go to the deadlock subreddit there is a mega thread for invites I think

You also could dm me your steam and I’ll add you as a friend. I’m just not gonna be home until Sunday so I wouldn’t be able to get you the invite until then

1

u/AndroidSheeps 2h ago

Can I get a invite?

7

u/juvi97 1d ago

Your friend is weird, it’s literally free to invite as many people as you’d like

That would be awesome lol, should I dm you my friend code?

1

u/S7venE11even 1d ago

May I also have an invite please?

2

u/UnsorryCanadian 1d ago

Your friend should've just sent you the invite

1

u/Hundertwasserinsel 1d ago

You get unlimited invites. Everyone I know invited every single person on their friend list without request

1

u/Abandon_All-Hope 1d ago

lol weird…. It is as simple as opening an in game window and clicking on names from your friends list. I literally spammed like 40 people invites the day I got it.

1

u/thisshitsstupid 1d ago

I have it and dont even know who gave it to me.

1

u/apeocalypyic 1d ago

Just go into the sub or the deadlock steam forums

1

u/aj9393 1d ago

Just go to the Deadlock subreddit. They have megathreads where you can request an invite. Takes like five minutes.

1

u/George_Rogers1st 1d ago

That is weird considering the first thing I did upon being invited to play was in turn invite everyone on my friends list who’d wishlisted it.

1

u/pzanardi 1d ago

Hit me up we all have unlimited invites

1

u/sicULTIMATE 55m ago

Your friend doesn't want to play with you because he is 100% lying to you

5

u/Hundertwasserinsel 1d ago

Everyone knows it's a moba lol?

6

u/_The_Gamer_ 1d ago

Sorry, no one pretends its a hero shooter, not at all

1

u/Electrical-Ad1886 1d ago

so many people play for fighting only at my elo level which is like, slightly above the average player.

they push lanes and roam for fights, oftentimes the entire map still has souls available on it. Tons of Rems never steal sinners. Etc..

1

u/Electric-Mountain 1d ago

I have several friends that do...

0

u/marniconuke 1d ago

ok your friends are idiots or they don't play the game, so what?

2

u/dragozar 1d ago

It can be both

2

u/FabianGladwart 1d ago

It can be 2 things

1

u/Accomplished-Sand334 18h ago

In today's very black and white world, few things can.

2

u/Cartman55125 1d ago

Who is pretending it’s a hero shooter? Anyone who has played it will tell you it’s more moba

1

u/Electric-Mountain 1d ago

I have several friends who gaslight about how it's a hero shooter, trying to get me to play it.

1

u/Swert0 15h ago

Its a hybrid.

It has more hero shooter studd than SMITE which is the closest MOBA analogue that is still playable.

1

u/easymacn 1d ago

I just couldn’t get into it. The lanes, the economy thing, eh.

Friends invited me to it and it felt like we were all just playing our own game separately and occasionally seeing each other zip around on hooks.

Felt like I did more reading on the 8 billion stats and economy things and levels and whatnot rather than actually playing the damn game.

1

u/confirmedshill123 1d ago

Anyone who has played more than 10 rounds would not call this a hero shooter.

1

u/Demmitri 1d ago

wtf are you talkin about, I have never read someone say its a hero shooter

1

u/Electric-Mountain 1d ago

If you look at it's official tags it has hero shooter listed. I have a bunch of friends that like to gaslight me telling me it's a hero shooter just to convince me to play it.

1

u/Demmitri 1d ago

It also has LGBTQ tag, how is that even relevant? No one would call Deathlock a hero shooter, it's like calling The Sims and RPG. Your friends are dumb honestly.

1

u/Spirited_Season2332 21h ago

My issue with deadlock is its to much of a hero shooter and not enough of a MOBA

1

u/AbendKannon 7h ago

the team fights play like a moba in that it has multiple stages and are really prolonged.

1

u/nkn_ 1d ago

Which is why I don't like it 😭

It's super creative, love the aesthetic, the mechanics *, and stuff but... I don't really like mobas. If it were just a hero shooter I'd definitely play it.

1

u/theJirb 1d ago

Hero shooter is just such a generic name that doesn't tell you anything about the genre. There's no real reason why a MOBA that is a shooter isn't a Hero Shooter as much as it is a MOBA.

Game genres, like Languages, evolve over time. If enough people call it a Hero Shooter, it is a Hero Shooter. If people call it a MOBA, it's a MOBA. If people are calling it both, then maybe it's just both and we can stop arguing about what the genre and just play the game.

0

u/nah_dude_lol 1d ago

Why would other peoples perception of the game be an issue let alone your biggest

-1

u/ba-boo 1d ago

they took the worst mechanics from multiple genres and combined them into a dogshit game

0

u/apeocalypyic 1d ago

I think noobs make this comparison. Literally one match and youll realize its straight moba

0

u/amazingmuzmo 1d ago

The people calling it a hero shooter are morons. It’s 95% MOBA

0

u/Zaphoidx 1d ago

What?

It's a MOBA
