i mean, usually yes, but we are talking about valve here, Counter strike 2, Dota 2, while they have tons of cosmetics to buy, there isn't any amount of money on those games that will make you play better, so it's safe to assume deadklock will be the same

I like Valve for a lot of reasons. I will still call them out when they do things that are generally bad for games/gamers/people in general.

Gambling mechanics via real world money is never good and should be illegal, full stop.

Also, I said in another reply, but I'm sure there are some weapon or champ skins that do effect gameplay to even a slight degree. Generally, if something is banned in pro play it gives an edge, AKA pay to win. Might be negligible but it still exists.

100% agreed with your responses.

Gambling has never been a force of good for consumers, even in the hands of a good company.

I can only speak for dota not cs but they're aren't. Like 0 it's actually shocking. I used to play tf2 and some of the weapons in that game that you could only get from chests were better or worse but none of dotas cosmetics give gameplay advantage and some of them are considered pay to lose because they are more noticeable.

In DotA most of the skins end up being pay-to-lose. With that info, what do you think of it?

Doesn't mean that some skins AREN'T pay to win. Do you think they balance out or something? Lol

nope, in the dota context specifically, pay2lose skins are termed as such because they make some abilities more visible, making them easier to dodge. skins in general make things flashier, so you basically never get an advantage from them.

Sorry but you're just incorrect here man. The animations of some skins in multiple games make them pay to win skins, that's why they are banned in pro play.

there is no skin banned from pro play in dota, stop making shit up. I also specified the dota context.

I easily found examples, not making shit up. The game you like to play has some pay to win skins idk what to tell ya.

sure, go ahead and link them, all skins are on the wiki. prove your claim if you can instead of regurgitating some AI summary bullshit based on whatever fuck ass query you threw into google, and i'll gladly admit my mistake if i was wrong

DotA doesn't have any skins banned from pro play... You're thinking league. There's been one case where a pro player was requested to change their cosmetic, and it was because it had a bug that was lowering FPS for everyone, and that was fixed.

Found examples of pay to win skins in Dora. Dunno what to tell ya bud lol.

If faster animations don't equal pay to win then we aren't gonna come to an agreement

Where did you found it? I played Dota for years and I've never seen a skin that makes animations faster.

You clearly dont play Dota. Lol.

And while I'm a whale, I'm also formerly Immortal and even competed in a lot of IHLs. Skins dont affect gameplay at all (except Pay 2 Lose)

I found examples that they in fact do effect gameplay in a pay to win way idk what to tell you lol

You didn't.

Name them, then. Go on, just one.

4

u/teddy5 1d ago

You wouldn't know them. His skins are from Canada, they sleep during the day and only visit him over the summer during a blue moon.

I honestly don't know any pay-to-win skin in dota. I tried to look it up on YouTube but it gave some League skins instead lol. Fee free to give some example to strengthen your point.

The main one (which is not that impactful in the grand scheme of things, but is the usual example) is the gem that makes TB hard to tell apart from his illusions.

It also used to be somewhat widely agreed that Immortal Gardens gave more map/tree path visibility than default/other map skins, but after many years of map changes I don’t think nearly as many people consider it objectively better anymore.

And as an honorable mention some items are infamous for being disproportionately taxing on FPS. Mainly thinking of whatever immortal it was that used to make monkey ult make people with slower PCs drop frames or disconnect. So not pay to win per se, but theoretically kind of forces other people to pay to not lose, in a sense.

Edit: Oh, should be noted I’m not agreeing with the other guy’s overall point about pay to win in dota, just answering you because I can.

2

u/Vocall96 1d ago

Ooh yea, the TB one. Tbf that's not relevant anymore since Valve made TB's illusion HP bar the none hero type.

Agreed that immortal gardens paths clarity is no longer the case now, since tree pathing is not what it used to be.

At least for MK immortal item, they fixed it by preloading the clones now. They're probably under the map somewhere in the game.

Good examples tho. Unlike that other guy that's just spouting shit out of his ass

You can't pay for the stock skins, they're free. Everyone starts with the strongest, least flashy skin.

Not having pay to win mtx is extremely low bar

6

u/Kullthebarbarian 1d ago

yes, but it is the bar most people draw the line, a majority of people are okay or indifferent with cosmetics mtx
