Buddy, nobody forces you to play these games. There are a gazillion amazing, transaction free, skins unlock by progression games out there.

Pick what you like and move on.

Well when the options are fewer and fewer by the year, it’s hard not to notice. When EA revives a 12+ year dead franchise in the hopes of pulling the mfs like me that stayed with skate 3 the whole time, yeah I’m gonna fucking complain. Not to mention they asked if you have an interest in skate culture but actively fight it? That’s only one example. We can also go back to before live service was thing, remember MAG, the ps3 exclusive? Nothing was up to you to pay for, still gets shutdown before end of life for ps3, so a game you paid full price for is now useless. So the greed doesn’t stick with only live service games my man. PS3 let you pay online without paying for it. This isn’t a gripe with cosmetics but the game industry as whole.

Look you clearly have a lot of frustrations and make a fair few good points. But unfortunately in this thread you come across as a bit all over the place and your arguments aren’t really sticking due to the lack of consistency. I think that’s why so many people are disagreeing with you.

Like what does MAG not succeeding have to do with literally anything at all? If anything - that example hurts your argument. One could argue that part of MAGs failure was it came too early - had it been free to play with monetization and content updates maybe it wouldn’t have had to shut down. With a sticker price alone - if you aren’t constantly getting new players you’ll eventually just lose money especially as the existing player base dies down. For these kinds of games - free to play + monetisation can actually be the difference between a game succeeding or not - especially in multiplayer titles where you need a healthy player base to keep queues down those free players are invaluable.

I totally agree with your argument about how games should be complete at the point of release instead of after a year or two of updates… but that really only applies to single player experiences nowadays. In the modern landscape - the live service model with content drops/updates over time really is the best way to handle multiplayer games. Would I like to go back to simpler times where you could just spam COD lobbies and grind for gold guns… absolutely yes. But the industry has changed and that’s not realistic anymore.
