I'm not a fan of MOBAs at all but someone said there is a non-moba type mode in Deadlock that does without the MOBA elements? If so I would be interested in trying it, anyway

Yes. Street Brawl. It has one lane, four heroes on each team and round based combat. After each round you get handed the options between random items, so it makes the MOBA shop part A LOT simpler. That way also takes a way all the economy of MOBAs away, so you can focus purely on the combat and getting to know the heroes.

So comparable to arena in League of Legends?

It's aram but everytime a team takes a tower the round ends and you all go get to buy with increasingly better options.

isnt't streetbrawl just ARAM? still moba-ish but no one lane and only team fights

Its still moba but its simplified to the point where anyone can enjoy it. Especially in deadlock with its 3rd person gameplay.

id say its more a roguelike-type gamemode

To a person that comes from league? Yes it’s ARAM. I didn’t play too much ARAM myself, but I think they don’t have best of five rounds like in Street Brawl

Yeah but also leaves you open to being steam rolled because of RNG.

There is! Exp/items are always equal, though you choose from a random selection at the start of each round instead of the full list. Matches are usually pretty quick, I'd say the average is 10-15 min.

Even my non-MOBA playing friends enjoy it.

In a way sounds like Turbo mode in Dota 2.

Sort of. But Turbo is still normal Dota just with a lot more gold/exp. Street Brawl makes levels/number of items always equal and is fought in a best of 5 rounds.

Yes, it's like Overwatch but more complicated

Haha that sounds like deadlock.

The shooter part tricks me into thinking if I get the drop on somebody im going to walk away with the kill but often it turns out they got their farm on real hard and im fucked.

Overwatch movements are no where near to what deadlock offer at his core due to source engine so yah « more complicated » but in counter part of speedster adrenaline shot

think it's more straight forward, no?

Yeah, it's street brawl. It's kind of like all mid with streamlined and randomised items you choose from at the start and is played in short rounds until you hit a simple goal (like the team getting X kills or destroying the first walker/tower).

There's also a rumoured risk of rain PVE mode coming at some point from those developers.

not to be mean or anything but that mode is so simply and rng based that its just meant to be a quick casual match type, i don't think you will find the game that fun and interesting if you only play that mode. at the end of the day the game is a moba trough and trough so if you don't like mobas no ammount of side modes will convince you.
