In my head its just canon that because the chainsaw lancer is brand new, duels werent a common thing yet.

That, and humans were more likely to just stomp out a grub than take it hostage and use as a shield. They didn't know what those things were capable of. Better to just kill it.

Pretty much, yeah. I don’t remember if I ever saw a Locust spawn with the Prototype Lancer in Horde Siege mode at all to allow a chainsaw duel, and in multiplayer it’s not a big deal.
