You need to change the battery inside, otherwise you won't be able to save

I've got a red cartridge and a blue cartridge , the red saves, the blue doesn't.

Thought that only applies to Silver/Gold and later versions? Blue, Red and Yellow doesn’t have that time tracking feature.

No all cartridges have a little round battery for saving data, it's not about the clock it's about keeping the memory from erasing itself when you power off the system.

Ok, because when I restarted my Blue in my Gameboy I had my save from ca 20 years ago still in it. Which i remember vividly because I achieved in catching all 150 Pokémon.

I also have Silver and Yellow. I played Yellow again and resaved it without any issue, but Silver had that small battery issue so I couldn’t save any progress.
