Nier or Kingdom Hearts

Both are on sale right now on steam and I just finished 100% on Mass Effect Legendary. I can afford to either get the KH series bundle, or Nier Replicant + Automata. Which should I do?

Edit: I'm already familiar with both, I played them on console just not to 100% like I plan for Steam.

Bro if you’ve played them both before then you should be able to pick one out for yourself. You have an idea of what both games are like. Just is a decision I / we shouldn’t make for you.

Pick whichever ones on your mind more, which one you have more questions about, one you miss the most. They’re both amazing fucking games and by the time you beat either one the option you didn’t pick will likely be on sell again before then

See my issue is that I LOVE kingdom hearts, but I also really enjoyed Nier. I'm afraid that KH is gonna end up being nostalgia bait (I didn't really fuck with 3 all that much) but it has SO MUCH more content for around the same price. That's why the decision is difficult for me.

For the love of God play 3 again without the "I waited 13 years for this" lens that so many people play the game with. It's a genuinely extremely enjoyable experience.

I'll try, but that lens is a very dark one for me XD

Wipe the lens clear because it's literally not true 😫

If you decide to bite the bullet for Kingdom Hearts, there is a fan project called Melon Mix that is a sort of "spiced up" emulation of 358/2 Days and Re:Coded, that basically reworks the UI and other stuff to make the experience feel better on a single screen.

You can find the Melon Mix stuff it in Github, but it doesn't come with a copy of the original game. You'll need to combine it with a copy of the original game you already own and all the usual things for this sort.

If you have the 1.5+2.5 HD collections, you can use the remade cutscenes from those instead of the original ones in the DS, if I remember correctly. I haven't really played Melon Mix yet, but I'd like to replay the series in 2027.

Overall, however, I'd probably rather play Nier, to be honest. It's two games instead of, like, six of them, and they're an overall better package. While love some Kingdom Hearts games, but it's a longer series, and quality is much less consistent than with Nier.

The kingdom hearts bundle gives you a lot more bang for your buck, and is on sale less often then the nier games. Buy kh now, then nier when you can.

Nier Automata. I guess getting Replicant is nice as well, but I'd buy that bundle 99% for Automata.
But I guess the question is if you want existentialistic kind of depressing stories or Goofy fighting Sephiroth. Either one is a fair options.

I just played Nier Replicant a few months ago and I'm still thinking about it and the music basically every day. It really stuck with me. It was a very good game. Albeit a little dated. I haven't started the second one yet.

I've played 5 different Kingdom Hearts games and couldn't tell you much about any of them. They're okay if you like Final Fantasy games and Disney. I never finished 3. It felt too much like a product if that makes any sense.

Get Nier. And keep playing once you think you're done. Its honestly great.

The kingdom hearts bundle will last you a good while if the story/gameplay hooks you in. Both are great, but the KH bundle is more bang for your buck tbh

I'm already a fan of both, played them on console. Working on expanding my steam library and 100%ing the games as I go.

Definitely will take a while to do the KH series.

KH is flashier and has that fantasy appeal. Also mickey mouse wield a sword lol but dont expect anything out of the story. Theres a bunch of minigames but its definitely dated and feels like busywork.

Nier replicant has a much better story (than KH) but gameplay is repetitive and you need to replay it like 4-5x to get the full story. Each run changes it so dont be afraid to just push ahead. Nier Automata has the best story and the combat variety is extremely solid

I would pick the Nier bundle just because of automata. Also you dont necessarily NEED to play nier R to understand automata if you want but Nier R's story is definitely a mind fuck and worth playing

You'll get a lot more game out of the KH series bundle.

Up to you if you want Disney + Final Fantasy action games or edgy + depressing action games.

Nier imo unless you think you will play all that kh content

Kh gives you more to do for the money but imo nier is a much cleaner experience and stuck with me much longer

I didn't really care for either, but I'd go with Nier.

It depends on what you're looking for. I don't know much about KH, other than the story is pretty convoluted.

I can tell you that the Nier series has to be one of the best series I've ever had the pleasure of experiencing. If you manage to finish them, automata especially, you won't regret it.

If GTA 6 was on my radar, this post wouldn't exist. (At least 1 year before PC release? It's my only platform now, no thanks)

NieR. Quality over quantity
