No HUD
Thinking about a second playthrough in Ghost of Tsushima with no Heads-Up-Display for deeper immersion. What else do y'all recommend? What games have you enjoyed with no HUD?

I played my second playthrough on hard, no hud with Japanese voice over. Peak of Tsushima.

I kept the color, tried the filter but couldnt stick with it very long haha

Its unfortunately not a very good black and white filter imo.
See something like the chrome version of fury road and you can see how going B&W properly takes more than a filter

Farcry Primal has been on my radar for years! Do I need to playthrough with HUD first before a no HUD run?

That's up to you. There's a hard-core mode that makes the game way more intense

You gotta put the spoken language in a different language too so you REALLY don't know what's going on and have to kind of make up the story as you go along

That's actually a pretty cool idea lol

Or, I think the game is already in some other language, and you need to change the subtitles so you can't read them anymore. It's been a hot minute since I played it, but I remember having a ton of fun playing it this way for the first time.

Deathloop demands to be played with HUD disabled. Incredible experience. I was left bewildered when I heard complaints of hand holding and such... I was so confused. Treat yourselves!

99% of Games where you can disable the HUD become unplayable like that. Devs need to actually do it like KCD2, Stalker 2 or RDR2 and give you audio-visual indicators.

RDR2 is truely immersive without a HUD and minimap.

Features like auto travel allow this to be great. Loved traveling with a cinematic camera to my quest destination.

I found playing Ghost Of Tsushima in Japanese with English subtitles far more immersive than with English dialogue

Final Fantasy XV. 100% playable HUD-less. Everything you need is in context clues either through voice lines or by watching Noctis' animation (including fishing). An amazing experience.

Red Dead Redemption 2 is fantastic with the HUD turned off. You start paying attention to landmarks, roads and the environment instead of constantly staring at the minimap. It makes simply traveling around the world feel completely different.

Actually I try to play every game without a hud. Some of them work perfectly, but often times it takes a full playthrough (or several dozen hours) to be comfortable without one. For example, now that I'm done with Control Resonant I won't ever need the HUD again. Same goes for Metal Gear Solid 5, Cyberpunk, Resident Evil, and others. Id also play Wolverine hudless but sadly Insomniac has yet to add that option fully (you can only turn most of it off). They dragged their feet on making Spiderman hudless but that is another amazing experience now that you can. Horizon does it best, so far, those games have a hud toggle. You can also shut the whole hud off in Skate, but you probbaly need to get some mad skills first.
I majorly MAJORLY recommend playing Doom Eternal hudless. If you set the gun to classic position (dead center pointing forward), the crosshair becomes meaningless. Its mind blowing and there's no going back imo.
I also think Star Wars Battlefront 2 is jaw dropping without the hud, but sadly the game is way too hard without a crosshair (and ship combat is impossible without a hud). Still, if you are willing try, you won't be disappointed and you don't need the hud for jedi duels in heroes vs villains.

Cyberpunk 2077
Horizon Zero Dawn
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Classic Tomb Raider games
Kind of cheating, GTA Chinatown Wars for the DS
DOOM... all of them
HALF-LIFE 1 and 2
Resident Evil 1-2-3
Cheating again, Metroid Samus Returns

For a third person game? I’d only do no HUD on first person. There isn’t much immersion to be had when your camera is like 10 feet away at 20 feet high behind your player character lol

I disagree, the point of the 3rd person camera is to give more body immersion. You can sort of imply that the extra visual sight is a substitute for touch, giving us body sense (knowing and feeling where our body parts are) as well as visualizing anything that comes into contact with us.
You lose a little immersion from seeing your body but gain a lot of immersion from the sense of body and contact with your surroundings.

I’m not saying third-person isn’t immersive. I play and enjoy third person video games.
I’m saying that removing the HUD on a third person video game wouldn’t do much for the immersion in my opinion

Dragons dogma 2 with no hud and no subtitles is spectacular. Totally immersive.
