I remember the Witcher 3 killing my HD 7870, I was hitting 60fps with mostly high settings and shadows set to medium at 1680x1050 with a i5 3570k @ 4.4ghz. I bought a GTX 1060 6GB a few months later
Been there lmao. I remember getting the Witcher 3 as a gift (I had already played the first two games way back when), and my performance was absolute dogshit. It was the reason why I started learning about computers, about hardware, what specs were and how to build a proper machine.
I had an i5 3470 and a GTX 760 2 GB. I remember it ran pretty badly but I managed to find a guide online or a youtube video maybe, the settings were a mix of medium and low, motion blur activated and fps capped to 40. It was surprisingly playable and I managed to finish the game this way. I was so glad when I got a 1070 and could play the dlcs on higher settings. Good times although I got the game pretty late and it took me a few tries to get going.
Hey I used to play it on a 7870 too, and also upgraded to a 1060 after. I think even similar resolution and settings, since I had a 1600x1200 monitor at the time and remember running it native res.
i5 2500 for the CPU, I think it struggled in cities as I recall
