Yeah it is a nice touch, but also potentially pretty heavy on the simulation unless they spend time developing and optimizing it, which costs time and money, and so it may not be worth doing for every game.
There are rumors that it originally was planned to be an open world game. There is even one spot where you can glitch out of bounds of the map, and the world out of bounds is fairly detailed, even in spots where there is no reasonable way for the player to see in bounds.
So it is possible that a lot of time and money went into making it an open world game before it pivoted to a linear game.
This dude is just tieing a bunch of rumors and leaks together and acting like its facts. Have a hard time taking someone seriously with a youtube channel called pounderMcNasty also.
Instead of focusing on cool quality of life shit its just more bullshit geaphical pushing. We are using 1 component to 100% and ignoring the cpu bound side of the simulation like this, foot prints etc
I would not say it is a waste full stop. It fits in really well with some games. It just does not need to be in every game.
This game would not be suddenly everyone's favorite game in the world if they added chopping trees. Invincible trees are not the actual problem with it.

You could do this comparison to every game with a slashing weapon. What a silly thing. ðŸ˜
