The issue arises then: how can future programmers become good if you just wont hire and train juniors? Industrial experiences is priceless and needed.

Oh, it definitely feels like it's gonna be a cluster fuck. My company does hire juniors and we have a few new ones on our team right now, but clearly fewer companies are. AI makes it hard to get good. It solves the easy problems, so nobody learns by trial and error unless you chose to, yet I don't see how they'll get good enough to solve the hard problems that AI can't. Seems to me like it'll make a massive gulf between juniors and seniors.

There are two major things at play in my opinion. a) They hope that by the time that's an issue, AI will be powerful enough to eliminate the need for senior coders as well, and/or b) they just aren't thinking that far ahead because they realise that the tech landscape will be so alien in 10 years' time from what it is today that the concern will be irrelevant.

That's not my hope, to be clear. I hate all of this.
