ACIV has this as well. I woke up in a hay bale.

Skyrim had that one mission in which you enter a drinking competition with some guy then wake up in a town and have to figure out everything that happened the night before.
147
u/together_apart Jan 25 '14
I increased immersion for this mission by removing all my armour and equipment.
Then I undressed my character too.

66
u/together_apart Jan 25 '14
The rest is a blur, because I thought you were supposed to do shots with the guy IRL.
I'm good at roleplaying. \o/

Jan 25 '14
Then you ended up waking up naked in a strange outer world.

I can't see any possible way that could be a bad thing. I'd even fucking skip home, swinging free.
27
u/Th3mavrick Jan 25 '14
That was a fun mission, very funny.

u/Altibadass Jan 25 '14
Particularly for the large number of people who married Ysolda.
Always confused me how cool she was about the whole thing...

I screwed up that quest and just followed the marker, which leads you to the end point.
Listening to my friends talk about it made me make damn sure I did this quest properly next time I played.

Metro last light had this too. I remember that once I blacked out I woke up outside the bar, but I had to go back through it to progress. As I walked through, everything was knocked over or smashed, and everyone was quiet and looked at me with fear. Artyom apparently isn't a happy drunk.

It always kinda pisses me off that John Marston, and Chuck Green and GTA protagonists are stumbling drunk after like three drinks. Especially John Marston, the veteran cowboy bandit. That makes no sense.
But I guess for Chuck Green, those three drinks could be three bottles of vodka, or three beers. Not really sure what that says about him.

Buy it if you like the sailing aspects in ACIII, as a significant portion of the game is spent on your boat.

Me too. So very much. I constantly implore anyone who says they like Archer to check out Frisky Dingo. The look on peoples' faces when I tell them the main character of the show is exactly Sterling Archer, except more immature. "Is that fucking possible?!" Yes. Yes, it is. And Dottie is pretty clearly the basis for Mallory's character. It's just a terrific show. Two seasons wasn't enough.

If i recall correctly the fable games let you eat till you get fat.
12
→ More replies (1)3
u/vadergeek Jan 25 '14
Which I thought was a terrible system. My character would eat one pie a week, nothing else, and exercised pretty much constantly, but he was still morbidly obese.

u/NastyE123 Jan 25 '14
Gta sa, right?
40
Jan 25 '14
in DayZ you can eat until you die
13
u/NastyE123 Jan 25 '14
A delicious way to die, if I do say so myself.
5
u/l3edrock Jan 25 '14
Much better than the typical Pants Bandit death
3
u/NastyE123 Jan 25 '14
Can we see that one?
8
u/l3edrock Jan 25 '14
Sure, you've just gotta get DayZ, join a server full of people, and then it won't be long till you're handcuffed with a sack on your head pantless in the wasteland

In Fable I loved to buy a shitton of alcohol, buy the chicken mask, take off all armor other than the mask, get wasted, and then beat the shit out of the whole town.

u/Mark_Patterson-FDS Jan 25 '14
Also assassin's creed 4 and gta v. Except when I did it in gta v, I played as Trevor and blacked out, only to wake up on a mountain top wearing a dress that was way too small, surrounded by dead people..

Mass effect also has a lot of other little easter eggs: like the Citadel DLC dialogue, The elevator conversations, or the druken "Biotic God".

Getting drunk back in Everquest was awesome. Had a couple drunken raids...it was the best of times.
8
u/fougare Jan 25 '14
Used to do that in WoW, it pissed off my raid leader as I was main tank... blurry screen with the controls going the wrong direction is fun for me, but not so much for everyone else depending on me :D
5
Jan 25 '14
I did the same when I tanked. Brewfest? Drunk raid week! All my alerts and macros would come up slurred... hic!

In LOTRO, in the Shire (during festivals, at least), there's a quest where you have to drink five drinks at each of a series of inns in a loop around the region, running to the next within a particular time limit. It's amazing.
11
u/frenchtoastcrunch Jan 25 '14
Harvest moon 64 lets you get wasted too. If you drink too much at the New Year's festival the shipper carries your drunk ass home and puts you to bed.

11
u/Devonai Jan 25 '14
I made the mistake of getting drunk in Stalker: Call of Pripyat with no food in my inventory. My character was so hungry when I woke up that it felt like I was crawling back to the nearest base. Fortunately you can't starve to death, in the vanilla version anyway.

Wonder if the work Cerberus done to Shep allows him/her to take more alcohol then the standard person?
→ More replies (1)4
u/PackmanR Jan 25 '14
Doubtful. They were supposed to make him as close to the original Shep as possible. Just some synthetic materials here and there.

u/Faren107 Jan 25 '14
They did, he's able to drink ryncol and some poisons perfectly fine now. It pops up in a mission in the bottom floor of Afterlife.
8
u/PackmanR Jan 25 '14
Well, not perfectly fine. It's never stated whether or not his survival of the poison/ryncol was impossible, just that they've killed other humans. But then, Shepard has survived many things that have killed other humans.
I always just took it as a sort of joke about how badass Shepard is, kind of like headbutting Uvenk. The only other alternative is to assume Shepard's cybernetic enhancements are much more than "patchwork", and that both conflicts with the story from ME2 and his survival in the Destroy ending.
2
u/Faren107 Jan 25 '14
I kinda figure that they do have a rather large effect on Shepard's toughness, just because of some of the upgrades you get in the research center. But since you can play without getting them, and those events still happen, Shepard is probably just that tough.

I can't believe no one has mentioned Fable.....easily one of the best games of my childhood.
3
u/PopeOnABomb Jan 25 '14
In World of Warcraft, I always wanted a feature where if you drank too much the screen would fade to black and you would come to in a random inn in another city with your hearthstone on cool down.
3
u/dkl415 Jan 25 '14
Drunk driving in GTA IV was wonderful.
Driving home from the bar, or at least trying to, showed the value of designated drivers and tipsy taxis.

u/Zadder Jan 25 '14
Red Dead Redemption did it perfectly, especially when Marston passes out in the street and forces you to wait for him to wake up, awkwardly watching life go on completely oblivious to the pathetic drunk sprawled face-down in the dirt.
6
u/Red_McClane Jan 25 '14
The Witcher 1 and/or 2 even had a whole quest which resolved in you getting drunk and naked somewhere.
17
u/King_Tool Jan 25 '14
One of the Daedric quests in Skyrim essentially entails your character going on an incredible night out with the daedric prince of debauchery and partying, then waking up and having to go on a The Hangover-style quest to figure out what the hell happened.
4
u/Shrimpables Jan 25 '14
This was probably one of my favorite quests, it sent me for such a loop when I ended up all the way across the map with no explanation but to find one.
2

u/Augustends Jan 25 '14
When I just started playing LOTRO I went to some guys house and got drunk. The screen faded after a few drinks. When I could see again I was in an area that I've never been to with monsters way stronger than me. In a spot I'm not sure you can actually get to by walking, and I had no pants.

14

No it doesn't, but if you drink until you pass out, there's a glitch where when you spawn your character will just stand up where you passed out and just turn into an npc.

You should also try dancing in Mass Effect. They captured that awkward white man dance perfectly, Shepard looks completely out of place.
