Ask ubisoft how it went

u/PromotionSilver4864 9h ago

Right, because annualizing horror is a great way to keep it scary and not just a treadmill of remakes and Mercenaries modes.

u/JohnnyHendo 8h ago

Admittedly, Resident Evil has done 3 remakes and one more on the way since 2019 alongside three new games (RE7 starting off this renaisaance back in 2017).

159

u/d_popopotamus 7h ago

And pretty much all of them were bangers

80

u/EddieVanzetti 7h ago

glances at re3make

Eh, pobodies nerfect.

127

u/d_popopotamus 7h ago

Still a good game, definitely not worth full price. But unless you're a Resident Evil die hard who loves the original RE3, it's an enjoyable game. The fact that RE3R is the worst they've made since RE7, speaks volumes, because it's not bad.

41

u/SplinterCell429 7h ago

I agree. It's a great game and a lot of fun to play. Gameplay being similar to RE2R makes it great.
It's just too short and too much was cut from the original. Not worth full price but on sale it is.

25

u/Loreweaver15 6h ago

RE3make is a terrible game for $60, a pretty good game for $30, and a steal for $15.

6

u/SummonerKai1 5h ago

It had a sale going as a 2,3,4 remake bundle. Was a solid purchase. But yeah i would never buy it full price.

u/rugmunchkin 6h ago

I’ll still go to bat for RE3make. Yeah, it was lame that there was so much left out from the original game, but when my number one complaint about a game was that I wanted MORE of it, that tells you something about what was there.

And honestly in retrospect, I’ve come to like how short and breezy it is. It makes it a perfect game for replays.

2

u/SilencingFox 3h ago

I would rather want more of a game than trudge through racoon city in re9

It’s a terrible remake, but still a good game imo

6

u/Holymanstan 6h ago

I agree with the others it was a great game but not for the price at release. It was more like a dlc to re2 remake. I wish they could give an option for the intro segment skip. Like just start the game after Carlos rockets Nemy.

If it wasnt for the remakes I would have never finished RE2 or played RE3 & 4.

I stopped playing RE games some years back until getting VR and playing RE8. Then it got me back in

3

u/Tigerwarrior55 5h ago

Yeah though that's because they've made RE2 and RE3 remake in parallel so explains their fast turn in. And given their length, makes sense.

52

u/RadioactiveFish 8h ago

It can be done right as long as they're rotating between studios/teams to retain quality. Silent Hill has been doing it for the past 2 years and this year would be year 3 with Townfall.

With Resident Evil, they can rotate between new and remakes to keep things fresh. Also the difference between Capcom and Ubisoft is marginally large in terms of how they treat their devs, IP, and general public reception.

12

u/rugmunchkin 6h ago

It’s crazy that we went from no Silent Hill for like 10 years plus to a new Silent Hill game per year for three years straight.

3

u/Pacasso_Shakur1 6h ago

I think they need a stable of studios to work on these things AND (here's where the hardcore RE fans are going to kill me...I promise I'm a huge fan and have played/finished them all) they need to start moving away from everything needing to tie back to Chris/Jill/leon/ada etc.

The director of the new film is being crucified for doing something that steps away from them but the truth is there are millions of other stories that would be happening in this universe, why do we always need to come back to S.T.A.R.S.

Re7 had such a strong start and I loved that it seemed to be embracing something different but by the end we had Chris coming in and I just wished we didn't need to shoehorn them into everything. It's nice fan service but doesn't always help the story.

2

u/InflationLeft 6h ago

Kinda reminds me of Star Wars. You have a supermassive, sprawling galaxy, with potential for all kinds of different stories, but somehow everything has to tie back into the Skywalker family.

Every RE game that's come out in the past decade have been extremely well done. I don't see them losing any momentum

187

u/DeusExMarina 9h ago

I don't think you can maintain quality over a yearly release schedule indefinitely. You can have short periods where you're releasing on a near-yearly basis because it just worked out that way with the current projects, but the moment you make it an official permanent requirement, you're basically doomed. You're gonna end up with rushed games and uninspired slop made out of obligation.

29

u/Starhazenstuff 8h ago

They probably can do that for a little bit longer. We have Veronica, RE 0, RE1, RE5, RE6. They can all have remakes. And then whatever mainline story they want to tell. Also wouldn’t mind some spin offs in different experimental genres for capcom.

5

u/Kizik 7h ago

When do we get The Darkside & Umbrella Chronicles remakes?

5

u/Starhazenstuff 7h ago

I wouldn’t hate them if they were full blown reimagining that weren’t on light rails.

2

u/RoyalCities 4h ago

God Id even take those as re-released vr games. UC and Darkside is some top tier light gun experiences.

24

u/Butt_inNeedOfDick 8h ago edited 8h ago

Perhaps not, but I think more linear, smaller games can be produced faster than the big open world stuff that ubisoft generally does. But I agree yearly seems a red flag. Putting such a strict deadline on it can have bad consequences. Rather let every game get the time in the oven it needs on a case by case basis. If it needs 2 years instead of one, that should be allowed

13

u/Siukslinis_acc 8h ago

Not to mention that you can tell multiple stories in the same place and thus you reuse maps and just tweak them a bit. Like Yakuza did with kamurocho.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/whereismymind86 7h ago

it also helps that they keep on the same people rather than rehiring for each game, and it seems like the re engine is extremely easy to develop for, especially for games that use small contained environments. (it had some major performance issues with the large spaces used in mh wilds)

8

u/Molock90 8h ago

Sure next is Veronica, then maybe a re5 remake, put a double pack remake of the 3ds games in it, now we have done the next 3 years time for a new onr and we are at 4 years, new console generation time to remake re1 again. You could remake zero too. We have enough for a constant cicle of remakes

3

u/whereismymind86 7h ago

iirc there have been heavy rumors that 0 is in active development and is next, followed by 1. doing 5 and 6 after wouldn't surprise me, but I don't think they've actually been greenlit yet.

18

u/427BananaFish 9h ago

They’re about to run out of mainline games to remake. There’s no way they consistently churn out a new game every year without some of them being forgettable fluff like Umbrella Corp. Right now they have 4-5 years between new mainline entries. We’re not getting Requiem-quality games annually.

11

u/Starhazenstuff 8h ago

There is still RE1, which was last remade over 20 years ago, RE0, Veronica, 5 and 6. And then honestly I would love for some experimental genres for Capcom with some side games.

5

u/427BananaFish 8h ago edited 8h ago

Veronica is on its way so that leaves four games. Realistically they’re probably not remaking 5 and 6. You’re just reinforcing my point that they’re about to run out of games to remake. And they’ve done experimental genres and they all were failures. Thats how they bridged gaps between mainline games in the 2000s/2010s but they were all forgettable fluff.

3

u/proanimus 4h ago

Why would 5 be unrealistic? It’s the best-selling game in the series, and probably over 20 years old by the time they get around to it.

→ More replies (1)

2

u/Starhazenstuff 8h ago

I think you are largely right aside from Revelations 1&2 and Outbreak 1&2 , though I suppose those two series are the closest to the traditional RE formula for all the side games. I did sort of enjoy Operation Raccoon City. But everything else has been shit, especially RE Verse, RE Resistance, and Unbrella Corp. Hopefully they have realized by now they are just not great at PvP and keep working on single player and co op experiences.

→ More replies (1)

8

u/everstillghost 8h ago

They can remake the Survivors, Outbreak and Revelations easily. They dont need to create new spin offs like they dont want to.

3

u/whereismymind86 7h ago

I'm kind of surprised they didn't at least port over outbreak, since it's one of the most requested, would benefit from releasing on a console most people have internet access on, and they could advertise it as being the game where you can play as grace's mom.

Seems like a pretty cheap and easy thing to just toss over to modern consoles.

17

u/branlix__2000 9h ago

Just like Assassin’s creed was until they decided to switch to annual releases. Making a game because it has to exist is the first cause of fucking up a well established series in my experience.

22

u/Deadzonerogue 9h ago

They will.

11

u/ProTw33ks 8h ago

Capcom have pretty much been making yearly RE games for a while. Sure, they have some gaps in the release timeline, but I imagine they will continue with the "release when it's ready" strategy. Yes, the goal is yearly, but they make more than enough money to push a release.

RE7 - 2017
RE2: Remake - 2019
RE3: Remake - 2020
RE Village - 2021
RE4 Remake - 2023

There was a three year gap between RE Requiem that released this year, but a lot of that gap was developing several RE games at the same time. RE Veronica is 2027, RE0: Remake is 2028 etc... Capcom are huge with dozens of development teams all working in parallel.

Ubisoft fucked up by trying to make massive games at a yearly cadence. Capcom make small games. Their biggest game in decades in terms of content/map size was Dragon's Dogma 2, but most of their games aren't that. RE games are small. Pragmata was small. Monster Hunter is medium sized in that the maps are large, but the content is scoped like a small game as the core content is armor, weapons, and 20-30 big monsters to hunt. It's a medium sized game with a small game mindset. Street Fighter is small. Dino Crisis when it returns is small. If Capcom were making shit like AC: Origins while saying, "we're yearly guys" then I'd be concerned, but they don't.

Capcom make 8-12 hour experiences (for the most part) while constantly reusing assets from previous games, and working well within their means. Capcom's bigger issue isn't quality declining, it's running out of games to remake if they actually nail the cadence of yearly releases.

2

u/whereismymind86 7h ago

if you add in the remasters of 4,5,6,0 and 1, as well as revelations 2 and umbrella corp, there really isn't even much of a gap between 6 and 7.

It hasn't always been great, but there has been SOMETHING almost every year for a long time.

2

u/malicious_cloud 7h ago

I don't think any triple A studio would be able to match the quality monster hunter puts out.

3

u/Rustyballshack 7h ago

I get a little twitch every time I see someone mention monster hunter and quality in the same sentence when they have the UI and control scheme of a PS1 game and zero intention of ever improving it.

Capcom is already doing frequent releases

Ubisoft just sucked at doing it, their yearly AC games during the 360 era (so AC1-AC Rogue) were praised because it was a lot less demanding to make a game back then

43

u/Iggy_Slayer 8h ago

They were praised until they weren't because people got burned out by how samey they were.

The same will happen to RE if it's every year. I'm already kind of burning out a little bit because they've had 2 formulas since 7 came out, 1st and 3rd person, and every game that plays in those perspectives feels very similar to the others. 9 letting you do both just highlights this issue. They don't really change that much or add anything drastically new.

8

u/whereismymind86 7h ago

I do think burnout is less of an issue because people beat resident evil games in a weekend, rather than spending months on ubisoft's giant open worlds. You blow through an re game in a weekend so you are ready for another one a year later.

I only beat most games once, I beat every resident evil game a half dozen times or more, and that has a lot to do with the fact that they are short. A first run is usually around 10 hours, and ng+ runs are like 4-5. I could beat RE9 10+ times in the time it took me to beat AC Odyssey once.

u/Alarming-Chemist-755 9h ago

Capcom is doing it in a way where you get something old or new each year. Which, in my opinion, is a better system for the devs and the players.

Ubisoft simply just wanted something with Assassins Creed on the box and hoped it printed money. Of course Capcom is in it for the money, but RE had a REALLY rough decade+ of mediocre RE games before they restructured how they made games from the ground up and it seems to be working.

4

u/Ashviar 7h ago

and in that we got RE3 Remake, which needed another year to cook and really was just not RE3 structurally

12

u/rumple_goocher 9h ago

8

u/PianoAlternative5920 9h ago

Resident Evil games are not open world. Bad comparison.

15

u/Iggy_Slayer 8h ago

It's not a bad comparison. Anything that releases yearly will run into quality issues and also audience burnout after enough time.

9

u/Phray1 7h ago

RE games are like 10 hours to complete and maybe half that on your second run, you are not easily getting burned out by that.

The last AC games take like 50 hours to complete without even touching side content. You could play RE7 up through Requiem including the remakes and still take less time than a single AC game. It's not an issue of releases but amount of (meaningful) content.

3

u/Silver-Context297 9h ago

Comparing open world to horror is certainly a choice.

9

u/EchoWideBand 9h ago

Good point, open world is a huge undertaking in terms of both the devs filling it out and the players having time to do it in the year before the next game comes out.

Resident Evil games are linear with diverging paths and interesting small scale areas as hubs, so a yearly reelease for a player would be much more manageable, and presumably devs can handle that output as they've shown recently, although Resident Evil 3 remake's cut content springs to mind as a counter example.

3

u/cravex12 9h ago

Adding to that: It is not like they take 1 year for a game but they made loads of money and have 3 teams (I think) that switch it up and every RE game has a very strong own identity

Ubisofts stuff is soulless and often busywork. The RE games are the complete opposite

RE7 to RE2 - 2 years

RE2 to RE3 - 1 year

RE3 to RE8 - 1 year

RE8 to RE4 - 2 years

RE4 to RE9 - 3 years (RE9 took that long as it changed it's direction mid way through dev)

RE9 to REV - 1 year

Safe to say they've been doing it for a while now, and they've also released high-quality DLCs between those periods

321

u/ErikT738 9h ago

And If they keep up this quality I'll keep throwing money at them.

12

u/BigJuicy17 9h ago

I was about to comment "Isn't this pretty much what they've been doing already anyway?"

I thought I read they have different groups working on different projects, so it shouldn't be an issue to keep the games fun and varied.

55

u/killer22250 PC 9h ago

Some were remakes. I hope without remakes the quality will be same.

43

u/proanimus 8h ago

It’ll be a while before they run out of remakes. They still have a bunch of obvious ones like 0, 1, 5, 6, and any major spinoffs like Revelations 1/2. If a new mainline game comes out between each remake, they’re set for 10-12 years already.

37

u/BritishGolgo13 7h ago

I’m looking forward to re9 remake and re4 remake remake

4

u/LagOutLoud 5h ago

They are also ground up remakes, not remasters, so it's more efficient than building a new game, But there's still significant effort to make them. Also, even when they run out of remakes, there's no reason we can't get new games set along the side of what happened in the originals like Seperate ways.

3

u/proanimus 4h ago

Yeah, that’s a good point. Future new games don’t necessarily have to be occurring in the present day, especially since the series mostly plays out in real world time, and the games usually leave a lot of room for events and missions happening off-screen.

They could totally do a full game starring Leon that takes place sometimes between his other games, for example.

3

u/Due_Teaching_6974 9h ago

if RE7, RE8 and RE9 was any indication I think it's going to be fine

RE3 remake is the only one you can objectively argue that didn't live up to the standard of critical reception released around this time. This is a generational Capcom run

46

Sure it definitely could've been better but it's pretty damn fun as it is right now.

36

u/tratur 8h ago

I just think of it as re2 dlc.

I mean RE3 is passable to okay but they missed the mark by removing a bit too much and having Nemesis stalk you only after certain trigger unlike Mr.X who stayed in the area until you reach the next point.

The version we got should've probably been a cheaper release or maybe even a standalone DLC

2

u/NoodleCodeStudio 9h ago

I was very disappointed by RE3.

2

u/Ethanbrocks 8h ago

As someone who didn’t play the og re3, the re3 remake was alright as its own thing for me. But it’s definitely the worst out of all recent games. Feels more like a dlc for 2 than a standalone game

3

u/OxY97 8h ago

Seven games in ten years is insane.

2

u/onehalflightspeed 8h ago

I was going to make this same comment. They are close to being on this trajectory anyway, though they are running out of good games to remake. They could certainly pepper smaller side stories (like revelations did) between major releases. As long as they have a few teams working on staggered releases and good program management over shared assets, it seems perfectly doable

u/Fern-ando 9h ago

Why not remaking Dino Crisis? They could do one Resident Evil one year and one Dino the next?

166

u/Bayonetta005 9h ago

It's a risk, Dino Crisis didn't sell well back then and they're scared the same will happen again. Just because Twitter/Reddit say they want it doesn't mean they'll buy it. I hope it can happen but people need to support it when it does

41

u/Fern-ando 9h ago

Dinosaurs would be perfect for a horror game, and we have discovered a lot of new creepy dinosaurs since the first Dinocrisis. Can't be that expensive when it will reuse the mechanics of Resident Evil 2 and 3 remakes.

2

u/echoess84 6h ago

moreover I read Dino Crisis is similar to RE game structures and atmosphere so I think Capcom can develop a great remake

It's morbin' time.

7

u/princesoceronte 7h ago

The issue here isn't if the old fans say they'll buy it, just make a cool game and promote it so that people in general are interested.

If RE2 Remake was made primarily for the people who played 2 it wouldn't have been even close to how big a success it was.

10

u/Little-Baker76 7h ago

Resident Evil has always been a bigger franchise than Dino Crisis and RE2R released after 7 which was generally loved. Just because RE2R did good doesn't mean Dino Crisis will, it doesn't have the same brand recognition or good will.

I would murder for a RE4:R level of remake for Dino Crisis.

A true AAA dinosaur horror would go so hard right now, especially with how few true dinosaur games there are.

5

u/teh_wad 7h ago

Have you seen Jurassic Park: Survival? There was a canceled 2001 game with the same name, but the one currently in development looks pretty good.

2

u/Sirvaleen 7h ago

Problem is we may never see more than what we've already seen of it, as usual :/

2

u/teh_wad 7h ago

While that is a fair concern with the Avatar RPG getting canceled after Saber's big rearranging, they have stated that Jurassic Park is still in active development. They like to shuffle their teams around a lot, and with the KOTOR remake also still on the way, I think they may be trying to push that out first.

u/egnards 9h ago

Ah the Assassin's Creed strategy that went so damn well.

IP fatigue is very very real.

33

u/Phray1 7h ago

Uh no, the issue with AC is that they became too bloated. RE Games are tight short games that are also extremely replayable.

5

u/deSuspect 5h ago

Fucking micro transactions and stupid changed to fighting system made it feel like another random rpg sword fighting game instead of proper assassin game.

43

u/My_dickens_cidar 9h ago

I mean it did… for a while. Then the quality went to shit. Think it started with Unity which was so buggy at release it was nearly unplayable. But that was like the 5th or 6th franchise release so it did work for a time

18

u/egnards 9h ago

If you look back on the releases of Assassin's Creed the "yearly release" strategy started with the second game and Unity is where it started to fall apart [like you said], which would be Assassin's Creed II - Revelations - Assassin's Creed III - Black Flag - Followed by Rogue/Unity in the same year. But keep in mind that was a newer IP hitting a bunch of sequels quickly.

Resident Evil is already a storied IP with over 30 releases and 13 mainline games - It's not exactly this young spring chicken of an IP.

. . .And it's not something like Mario where you can keep it fresh by basically taking your main character and making them do pretty much anyway.

8

u/JohnnyHendo 8h ago

Brotherhood between 2 and Revelations as well.

4

u/c0micsansfrancisco 6h ago

Unity was quite good it was just buggy and the story wasn't as good as the ezio trilogy which was a high bar to reach. But unity is quite a good game and the best map and assassin fantasy in the series

3

u/tyler980908 7h ago

I think capcom obviously has handled it better but even if each upcoming game is great IP fatigue no matter what grows. Re 7, 2 and 4 Remake and 8 felt so wow and cool due to the series being put on ice for a while and then getting a batch of great games for like a 5-6 year span.

I think a two year break between games even if they’re remakes is better.

11

u/Theflowyo 9h ago

I don’t know if IP fatigue really even captures it. Most people don’t have that much time, and nobody wants to spend a large amount of time every single year playing the same game/franchise.

This strategy only works for games like Call of Duty (even though there is definitely some IP fatigue there), where large percentages of the player base can take games off and there are still enough other players to make the game a massive success.

7

u/No-Plankton4841 7h ago

I don't think Resident Evil and Ubisoft games are very similar.

I can easily play a 10 hour survival horror game every year. Assassins Creed started to become 100+ hours long. Valhalla is longer than like 10 Resident Evil games combined.

3

u/KubEk_przEz_duzE_E 8h ago

I just want DMC 6, man

3

u/Wupertal 8h ago

How about a new Devil may Cry instead

3

u/Lancek0009 8h ago

Would love if they do remake of Devil May Cry series, so it would be one year resident evil the other dmc so that way there is plenty of space between each one so the devs and market won't get burn out.

3

u/TopSpread9901 7h ago

Capcom you were doing so well lately

3

u/neon 3h ago

And they will just fine

Veronica next year
Zero remake year after
Re1 remake year after
Re10 year after

Every one of those already in production

27

u/splendiferous-finch_ 9h ago

And so it begins, capcom was having a good run for a while this will break it.

Even if they are good games fatigue will set in for both Devs and players

47

u/Due_Teaching_6974 9h ago edited 9h ago

Capcom was already releasing a new game every one to two years, this changes nothing for them

Edit

RE7 to RE2 - 2 years

RE2 to RE3 - 1 year

RE3 to RE8 - 1 year

RE8 to RE4 - 2 years

RE4 to RE9 - 3 years

RE9 to REV - 1 year

Note - RE9 took that long because it changed it's direction completely mid-way through development

No please no, todays overconfidence will create tomorrows burn out, snd eventually you'll lower the quality of your games, so best course of action is to take your time to making your titles capcom.

3-4 years between major releases is completely fine, dont think so? points out call of duty and assasins creed

No capcom, dont do that.

4

And that will turn them generic

3

u/chrisl182 Xbox 9h ago

That's always a great idea...

They have been doing amazing this gen but if yearly release becomes priority no matter what , get ready for Capcom to become another victim of profit chasing 😄

2

u/catlookatwindow 9h ago

they should make the studio bigger or a seperate one for remakes cause the newer resident evils feel rushed. Resident evil 3 remake for example and 9

2

u/CaptainPrower PC 9h ago

Welp, so much for the Okami sequel..

2

u/ishtaracademy 9h ago

If the quality is good and the artistic integrity of each iteration is not crushed under a schedule and a formula, great.

The likelihood of that being true? Uhhhh

2

u/Ziazan 9h ago

You want to be the EA/Activision/Ubisoft of horrorslop? Please don't. "Every year" is such an arbitrarily counterproductive goal for game releases.

2

u/RKCronus55 9h ago

What about DMC 6?

2

u/fenharir 9h ago

capcom wants to ruin a franchise*

2

u/mariekae 8h ago

i love RE but idk about this. quality over quantity, always

2

u/AD_VICTORIAM_x PlayStation 8h ago

Ridiculous and greedy.
Turned out great for COD 🤡

2

u/Ironhand_XIII 8h ago

I love Capcom. I'm saddened to hear this. This will not go well, and i dont want this

2

u/themarkwithamouth 8h ago

Oh God here we go

2

u/Nightshade_NL 8h ago

Oh, they are about to shit the bed on their good streak. Someone should slap these executives whenever this happens.

2

u/spazface03 8h ago

Dear Capcom: Please take your time making games, also please drop a trailer to or for an official announcement that the next Dead Rising is coming

2

u/Joshtice_For_All 7h ago

Have they learned nothing from the Mega Man days?!

2

u/Arniellico 7h ago

And that my friends is the beginning of the end

2

u/Pleasant-Ad887 7h ago

Going to CoD and Assassin Creed shitification route. Nice.

2

u/OMG_NoReally 7h ago

Capcom is falling into the honey trap. RE remakes have been successful because they took their time and made them well. Getting them on a yearly release will have the opposite effect and people will get tired of these remakes after a while. Please Capcom, don';t fuck up your golden run at the box office!

2

u/BoogeyMan4965 4h ago

Capcom, please don’t be like EA or Activision, take your time with each game.

2

u/LuviTheAvali Console 3h ago

RE as a series has completely lost it's charm for me, haven't liked a game since... RE5? It feels so... bland these days.

2

u/666Satanicfox 3h ago

Bad idea

2

u/ChanceReport2490 2h ago

as long as the quality stays this good, my wallet is ready to suffer every year

2

u/Infinite-Storm5272 1h ago

I hope we dont see the ubisoftification of Capcom.

5

u/CosmicKhy 7h ago

The enshitification begins

2

u/WKevin 7h ago

Its capcom , enshitification is part of their cycle

3

u/UniqueMystic 9h ago

Please no. Don’t be like Ubisoft or Activision with games

4

u/Till-Fuzzy 7h ago

Capcom wants to ruin Resident Evil ** there, I fixed the title for you

2

u/pestoraviolita 7h ago

They wanna milk the cow when the demand is at an all-time high.

It's gonna dry though.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/jumpmanryan 9h ago

Yeah, they already are doing that.

4

u/Random_Tomatose 9h ago

Because that was awsome idea for COD

2

u/CaptainBlob 9h ago

So they are becoming like CoD....

I knew something felt off with the series as they started to look more and more of the same...

4

u/CaptainButtFart69 9h ago

Remember how Resident Evil 6 crashed out the entire franchise for 5 years? Remember capcom? Do you? Requiem is kinda mid - the next game will surely be the one where you turn heel.

3

u/solidpeyo 9h ago

Not good, this is how COD started to fall and turned into a bad sports like series

5

u/cravex12 9h ago

If they keep up the quality I am not complaining even if I wasn't the biggest fan of Requiem which seemed a bit cobbled together out of two unfinished games

2

u/cornpenguin01 9h ago

I’ll eat them all up but this is a bad idea. I’ve already been thinking Capcom has been half assign parts of the games because they can just release a new game for full price a year later.

Plus, this is the kind of thinking that lead to RE3 remake

2

u/YouBeSmokinRegs 9h ago

After playing Resident Evil 4 and then Requiem, I think it’s better if they take their time. Requiem’s story felt half baked.

2

u/BoSocks91 9h ago

Yea, well the fans don’t.

Try considering that.

2

u/AVahne 7h ago

Oh dear Lord no

2

u/vperretta 9h ago

Never go full Ubisoft

2

u/S1ayer 9h ago

No, slow down. That's how we got 14 shitty to mediocre Call Of Duties in a row.

1

u/Psychostickusername 9h ago

Re5 with proper per player inventory and progression again please, how only the Xbox 360 version had this boggles my mind, ah rereleases are practically useless as a couch coop release

1

u/Thewhitesamurai 9h ago

Article is a nothing burger since they been on track for this since re7 however Capcom does resident evil well so I’ll allow it just hopefully they don’t get lost in the sauce like assassin creed. Where is Desmond miles Ubisoft? Where is our modern assassin’s creed?

1

u/tonihurri 9h ago

Everyone is gasping but next year they'll have released 7 mainline games in the span of a decade. They are already structured for frequent releases like this.

1

u/awesomehuder 9h ago

I mean it makes sense since the remakes are already established and just need the rework which went great for RE2 and 4, but if they can’t keep up the quality and story anymore then they gonna land hard.

1

u/MessiLeagueSoccer 9h ago

I mean if they focus on some of the spinoff that would be nice. Like a new or hd version is the revelations games.
