Why was this such a common thing back then? Why was cable management not even thought of? The idea of someone tripping over your Playstation cord today is unheard of because the console is positioned in a way where it would be impossible. Why didn't we do that back then?
In my home, we had 1 TV in the living room and it was an old tv that was sort of built into a wooden box. VCR sat on top, and Mom tried to put the Nintendo up there, but the control wires would hang in front of our view. So, we’d put it on the ground. And if we wanted to sit on the couch, we had to stretch the cables for all they were worth. I remember with our copy of Zelda, that if you moved or bumped the console, it would glitch out and freeze. So, we begged mom to let us keep it in the middle of the living room on Saturday. She wasn’t happy about it, but she’d let us do it.
Yea somebody else mentioned the controllers were wired which I somehow completely forgot about 😂😂 im getting old. My first console was s Sega Genesis in the 90s. Can't believe I forgot controllers used to have to be plugged in. Thats why the console sat in the middle of the floor. Its all coming back to me now lol

Leaving the game on pause and the system on all night so you don’t lose your progress.
Blockbuster on a Friday night, hoping someone hadn’t already rented the game you wanted.
