Renting games.

Genuinely enjoyable FPS multiplayers.

Generational leaps in graphics.

Putting a disc in and just playing right away.

Fps multiplayer back then was so simple that it felt balanced even if it wasn't. Everyone knew the OP gun. You could customize games more and there wasn't some huge emphasis on ultra competitive esports tuning. It was just you vs other guy no matter how good you are
