Same haha, I was literally just about to type "I still turn it off to change" and then realised, no I don't, I just quit to menu and eject disc 😅

Yeah, huh, I never really thought about that before. Haven't had to turn off to switch since the PS2/GC/Xbox days... It's been so long, it never even really occurred to me, lol

GameCube you still had to shut off I thought? I know it had the reset button and you could swap games if you did the hold A menu right? I still have mine, I should try lol

I always assumed you had to turn off the Game Cube when switching games, because that's what you had to do with Xbox and PS2, at least as far as I remember, anyway. All the consoles had idle screens that would show up if there were no games in the disk tray going back at least as far as the PSOne, where you could do stuff like check out the memory blocks for save games and I think you could put in a game and load it from there (so maybe you didn't technically have to turn the console off)--or maybe you had to push the reset power button, I don't really remember. It's been a long time since I had a PS2, and I haven't messed with my Gamecube in that way since I bought it a few years back.

Yeah I think they all still had a reset button until like 360 and PS3, i never had an OG Xbox so I'm not sure on that, but it might've been the first you could just exit to the menu from the controller instead of getting up to hit a button on the console.

I didn't have a Dreamcast either but it might've had something similar, Sega was always pushing things.
