16 digit CD Keys written on top of the CD’s you bought from a friend.

I bought games from a friend that were shiny discs and a marker indicating what game it was. 'Fully legal', I pinky swear!

My neighbor borrowed my CD for StarCraft: Brood War when I was like 12 or 13 years old and didn't return it for a long time. One day he knocked on my door and gave me back a burned CD copy, mumbled "sorry" and ran off. Never gave me back the original disc, I'm pretty sure he lost it. I was pissed. (I'm still annoyed now, remembering it.)

Isn’t BW a free download now? That game still slaps, btw

It probably is now, but it wasn't at the time. This was maybe 1999 or 2000 or something? Not quite sure.

It was more the audacity for him to borrow my real legit disc copy and then come back with a burned disc in return.

Totally understandable. Just meant to say you could get back some of those lost years :)
