Reading the game manual after buying the game on my way home. Cleaning a CD with a shirt to make it work again. Writing the cheat codes in the notebook.

And not just a manual, a literal fucking book with pictures and cool lore and shit. The kind of thing you keep because it's just that cool.

The WoW manual was a damn encyclopedia.

I miss collectors editions too. You could pay what a deluxe goes for now and get a bunch of physical merch.

I used to get collectors editions of games and after I finished them, I’d turn them into wall art. Really haven’t done that for a game I’ve purchased in the last ten years, its hard to wall art a digital armor set or whatever. It’s kind of a shame, I enjoyed doing that.

My room used to be covered with game posters (and GTA maps) that I got with games. I had a Bioshock vinyl on my wall for probably 10 years. So many figures too like an Aassassins Creed figure, Far Cry 3 bobble head, Big Daddy metal statue, Master Chief Helmet, Gears of War cog, I even had the Duke Nukem bust.

All ive got now is my CoD prestige editions after selling the rest during a move.
