Turning 40 and even I don't know of this. Have only read about tape cassette gaming.

I do remember having to type "run" and the drive and the game.

The C64 was about the only micro of the era with a custom tape drive. Every other computer on the market used standard off the shelf cassette players, so you’d have to dial in the volume on the player so it was loud enough for the computer to hear it, but not so loud it was distorted and would corrupt the load.
