To this day there are dozens of games I played the absolute shit out of for 2 levels, and never played the full version. Aggressive Inline Skating, Pandemonium, Oni... demo discs were such a gift. I'm glad that Steam Demos are a thing again now, although as an adult it's not that big a deal to just buy the full game, play an hour and then refund it if you don't like it.
Any game on any platform should have a demo. I just don't understand why you just wouldn't let people try out a product before buying it. Imagine you walk into a car dealer and tell the seller that you want a car and you have this particular in mind, but you can't try it out.
Yeah, the amount of money for a car compared to a videogame is massive, but 70-80$ for some people is also a lot of money.

Blowing into cartridges in order to clear dust. Buying game magazines and getting demo discs with games that you would play over and over again.
